Hertz HMX6-5S-LD-G 6.5" Marine RGB Speakers

The Hertz HMX6-5S-LD-G is a pair of 6.5-inch two-way marine and powersports coaxial speakers with gray sport grilles and integrated RGB LED illumination. They are designed for open-air installations where water exposure, UV, vibration, dust, and temperature changes are practical concerns. Their 4-ohm design makes them suitable for many marine, ATV, UTV, and off-road audio systems.

Each speaker is rated for 75 watts continuous power handling and 150 watts peak power handling. The 50 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response is intended to cover bass, midrange, and treble from a single coaxial location. With 89 dB SPL sensitivity, these speakers can be paired with a properly matched marine-rated amplifier or compatible head-unit power.

The HMX6-5S-LD-G uses a 1.4-inch PEI dome tweeter with a neodymium magnet, acoustic lens, and protective stainless-steel mesh grille. This arrangement is designed to support off-axis high-frequency dispersion, which can be useful when speakers are mounted low in a boat panel or away from the listening position. A sealed built-in crossover separates the woofer and tweeter sections.

Its woofer uses a UV-inhibitor polypropylene cone, co-molded Santoprene surround, aramid-fiber spider, and silicone-insulated lead wires. The long-throw 25 mm woofer voice coil is tuned for infinite-baffle applications, such as boat side panels, consoles, and other open mounting surfaces. A high-density ferrite woofer magnet provides the motor structure for the moving assembly.

Integrated RGB lighting sits beneath the tweeter and uses a transparent polypropylene diffuser. Lighting control requires the optional Hertz HM RGB 1 BK accessory rather than being built into the speaker package. The HMX6-5S-LD-G can serve as a direct marine speaker upgrade or as part of a larger Hertz marine and powersports audio system.

Design & Installation

The speaker combines a UV-inhibitor polypropylene cone, Santoprene surround, marine-grade polymer basket, stainless-steel tweeter mesh, and gold-plated corrosion-resistant terminals. Hertz specifies IP65 protection, ASTM-D4329 UV-resistance testing, and ASTM-B117 salt-fog operability. The gray sport grille provides the finished appearance for exposed installations.

Verify the available mounting surface before installation: the listed cutout diameter is 128 mm (5.04 inches), mounting depth is 69 mm (2.72 inches), and overall depth is 95.6 mm (3.76 inches). Use the supplied mounting hardware where appropriate and match the amplifier or source to the 4-ohm load and 75-watt continuous rating. For RGB illumination, plan separate wiring and add the optional Hertz HM RGB 1 BK controller.
