The Hertz SX 165 NEO is a 6.5-inch, two-way SPL coaxial speaker designed for high-output vehicle audio systems. It combines a midwoofer and a centrally mounted tweeter in one speaker assembly, simplifying installations where separate tweeter placement is not desired. Its 4-ohm design and 100-watt continuous power rating make it suitable for systems using an appropriately matched amplifier.

This speaker is intended for listeners building loud, direct, and durable mobile-audio systems, including motorcycle-oriented installations. The 96.5 dB sensitivity helps it produce substantial output from available amplifier power. Its 100 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response covers upper-bass, midrange, and high-frequency duties, though a high-pass filter is specified for its continuous-power rating.

The SX 165 NEO uses a high-stiffness pressed-paper cone with water-, humidity-, and UV-resistant treatments. A special N38 H neodymium motor keeps the speaker compact and lightweight while supporting its SPL-oriented design. Its integrated 35 mm PEI dome tweeter uses a neodymium magnet and a resettable solid-state protection circuit.

Double Faston terminals support conventional speaker wiring and can be used for daisy-chaining multiple units. Design & Installation

The SX 165 NEO combines a water-repellent pressed-paper woofer cone with a PEI dome tweeter, neodymium magnetic assemblies, and a rubber gasket. The woofer uses a 38 mm double-layer copper voice coil on a polyamide former, while the tweeter uses a 28 mm voice coil. Each speaker weighs 0.94 kg (2.08 lb).

Verify the 143.3 mm (5.64-inch) mounting cutout and 57.8 mm (2.28-inch) mounting depth before purchasing. Hertz specifies 100 watts continuous power with a 150 Hz, 12 dB/octave high-pass filter; its owner’s manual lists a 200 Hz, 12 dB/octave high-pass setting for best SPL performance at the 200-watt peak rating. Use an amplifier that is stable at the speaker system's 4-ohm nominal impedance and observe correct polarity during wiring.
