Rockford Fosgate M2-65B 6.5" Color Optix Marine Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2-65B is a pair of 6.5-inch, 2-way coaxial marine speakers built for boats, powersports vehicles, and other exposed installations. They provide a full-range speaker upgrade where conventional interior speakers may not be suited to moisture, UV exposure, vibration, and changing weather. The black finish offers a coordinated appearance for dark marine and motorsports interiors.

Each speaker uses a 4-ohm design with a 150-watt RMS power rating and 600-watt peak rating. Its 40 Hz to 24 kHz frequency response and integrated 1-inch tweeter are intended to cover bass, midrange, and high-frequency content from a single speaker location. This makes the pair suitable for systems needing clear full-range output without adding separate tweeters.

The M2-65B combines an injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene cone, UV- and salt-fog-resistant TPE surround, and a laminated PXNX dome tweeter. A sealed integrated concealed crossover network manages the coaxial driver system. The VAST surround mounting approach increases the effective radiating cone area while retaining the 6.5-inch speaker format.

Integrated Color Optix RGB lighting adds customizable illumination to the speaker installation. The speakers work with the separately sold Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and RF Connect app for lighting control. Deutsch-style RGB connectivity supports a more organized lighting installation than loose individual LED connections.

These speakers can be used as an upgrade in a marine cockpit, side-by-side, ATV, or other compatible panel-mount location. They can be powered by a compatible 4-ohm amplifier or source-unit channel within their RMS rating. The supplied grille options allow the appearance to be tailored after installation.

Design & Installation

The M2-65B uses a PA66 frame with 30% glass fill and UV inhibitors, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, TPE surround, silicone-insulated tinsel leads, and corrosion-resistant marine-grade brass terminals. Its vented motor is protected by a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen, while the integrated crossover is sealed within the speaker assembly. The black speakers include removable marine-grade sport grilles along with stainless-steel grille inserts.

Confirm a 5.36-inch cutout and at least 2.49 inches of mounting depth before installation. Use the included stainless hardware, maintain speaker polarity, and route wiring away from sharp edges and moving parts. For RGB control, use the PMX-RGB controller or follow the specified fused wiring method; Rockford Fosgate recommends at least 20-gauge wire for hard-wired Color Optix lighting connections.
