Hertz MP28-3 1.38" Component Tweeters

The Hertz MP 28.3 Mille Pro is a 35 mm (1.38 in.) component tweeter designed for detailed high-frequency reproduction in a car audio upgrade. It is intended for systems that need a dedicated tweeter rather than a coaxial speaker’s built-in high-frequency driver. With a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 91 dB sensitivity, it is suited to use with compatible passive crossovers and component-speaker systems.

This tweeter uses a Tetolon fiber dome and a 28 mm CCAW voice coil to keep the moving assembly light while maintaining control. Its frequency response is specified from 1 kHz to 25 kHz, supporting upper-frequency detail and dispersion for front-stage listening. The faceplate geometry is engineered to support more consistent output when the tweeter is installed off-axis, such as in factory-style dashboard or pillar locations.

A double neodymium motor is used for efficient magnetic control, while the rear acoustic chamber is damped with natural-fiber non-woven material. Hertz specifies a 900 Hz resonant frequency, which supports integration with an appropriately filtered midwoofer. The supplied MPCX 2T.3 crossover uses a 12 dB/octave high-pass network at 3.5 kHz.

The MP 28.3 is rated for up to 180 watts peak when high-pass filtered at 1.8 kHz with a 12 dB/octave slope. For normal component-system use, the included crossover provides the specified 3.5 kHz crossover point and selectable 0 dB or -2 dB tweeter level. This makes it practical for tailoring treble output to the vehicle’s mounting position and interior acoustics.

Hertz includes multiple mounting accessories for flush and angled installation options. An angled support can help direct the tweeter toward the listening area when mounting on an A-pillar or dashboard. The MP 28.3 can be used as a replacement or upgrade tweeter in a properly designed passive component system, or with active processing when the installer provides suitable filtering and protection.

The MP 28.3 combines a Tetolon fiber dome, ferrofluid-cooled CCAW voice coil, double neodymium magnet system, and extended rear chamber. The compact driver measures 53.4 mm across at its widest stated physical dimension and weighs 0.075 kg (0.16 lb) per speaker. Its faceplate and mounting system are designed for both cosmetic integration and useful aiming flexibility.

Use the supplied MPCX 2T.3 crossover for the manufacturer-specified 3.5 kHz high-pass point and connect the tweeter according to the crossover’s marked terminals. Flush-mounting rings, an angled support, and a watchband accessory are provided for installation flexibility. Select the 0 dB or -2 dB crossover setting after listening from the driver’s seat, especially when the tweeters are mounted close to the windshield or aimed directly at occupants.
