Audison AV 6.5 P II 6.5" Woofer

The Audison AV 6.5 P II is a 165 mm (6.5 in.) VOCE II component woofer designed for front-door mid-bass and midrange duty in a high-quality car audio system. Its 4-ohm design and 150 W continuous power handling make it suitable for amplified speaker upgrades where factory door speakers lack output, control, or clarity. The driver is intended to reproduce bass and lower-to-upper midrange frequencies rather than function as a full-range coaxial speaker. It is a practical choice for custom active systems or matched component installations.

A 40 mm CCAW voice coil supports the woofer's power handling and excursion capability while helping manage heat. The specified frequency response is 45 to 7,500 Hz at -6 dB, providing useful bandwidth for a door-mounted woofer paired with a tweeter or midrange. With a 91 dB sensitivity rating measured at 2.83 V/1 m, it is positioned for systems that balance amplifier power with efficient output. Its low 0.3 mH inductance also supports extension into the upper midrange.

The AV 6.5 P II uses a semi-pressed paper cone with cotton fibers and a rubber surround. This material combination is selected to keep the moving assembly light while maintaining damping and cone control. A glass-fiber former supports the voice coil, while the high-density-flux ferrite motor provides the magnetic drive. The die-cast aluminum basket and magnet cover contribute to a rigid installation structure.

Audison incorporates a T-shaped pole piece with an aluminum shorting ring in the motor assembly to reduce inductance-related effects and help linearize response during excursion. The magnetic circuit geometry is FEM optimized to concentrate magnetic flux at the voice coil. These details are intended to support clean, controlled mid-bass response and useful off-axis performance in vehicle door locations. The driver has 4.95 mm of Xmax and 7.5 mm of mechanical excursion.

The AV 6.5 P II fits naturally into a VOCE II front stage with compatible tweeters, midranges, and crossover options. For an active DSP system, Audison recommends a Linkwitz-Riley 24 dB/octave high-pass filter as low as 70 Hz, with a symmetrical low-pass point matched to the associated tweeter or midrange. OEM-style two-pin and standard terminal connections provide wiring flexibility during installation and service. Optional AVG 6.5 B II and AVG 6.5 S II mesh grilles are available separately for exposed installations.

This woofer combines an aluminum chassis, high-density-flux ferrite magnet, glass-fiber voice-coil former, CCAW winding, semi-pressed paper cone, and rubber surround. Its 100 x 45 x 18 mm magnetic assembly and 1.6 kg weight reflect its substantial motor structure. The 165 mm outer diameter, 140.8 mm mounting diameter, and 74.2 mm overall depth should be checked against the vehicle's speaker opening and door clearance before installation.

Use an amplifier stable at a 4-ohm speaker load and set gain conservatively for the 150 W continuous rating. In an active DSP installation, Audison recommends a 70 Hz Linkwitz-Riley 24 dB/octave high-pass filter as a minimum starting point; set the low-pass filter symmetrically with the associated tweeter or midrange crossover point. The driver offers standard terminals plus an OEM-grade two-pin connector; the supplied bare-wire pigtail can be soldered or crimped to the vehicle speaker wiring.
