Audison AP 5 5.25" Midbass Speakers

The Audison AP 5 is a pair of 130 mm (5-inch nominal) Prima Series component woofers designed for factory-speaker replacement and custom car-audio upgrades. It provides a compact 4-ohm midbass solution for vehicles with limited mounting depth. Its 70 Hz to 5 kHz operating range supports focused midbass and lower-midrange reproduction.

With 50 W continuous power handling and 150 W peak power handling, the AP 5 is suited to systems using a compatible factory radio or external amplifier. Its 93 dB sensitivity helps it work efficiently in OEM-style locations. The 4-ohm nominal impedance is compatible with many conventional car-audio amplifier channels.

A 32 mm pure-copper voice coil is used to support power handling and low-frequency control. This construction is intended to maintain controlled response through the speaker's rated operating range.

The AP 5 uses a shallow Triple Wave TPU surround to support linear cone excursion. Its cone profile is engineered for a calibrated mechanical low-pass roll-off, so Audison specifies that no passive crossover is required for the woofer itself. This makes it appropriate for installations where a separate tweeter and system-level frequency management are selected to suit the vehicle.

A compact, abrasion-resistant basket and reduced mounting depth help the AP 5 fit many OEM speaker locations. High-current fast-on terminals provide double contacts on both positive and negative poles for connection flexibility. Use the AP 5 as part of a properly matched front-stage, rear-fill, or multiway speaker upgrade.

Design & Installation

The AP 5 combines a water-repellent treated paper cone, a 32 mm pure-copper voice coil, and a TPU Triple Wave surround. Its compact basket has an abrasion-resistant, scratch-resistant coating, while the motor is secured with damping epoxy adhesive. A temperature-resistant plastic terminal cover helps protect against accidental short circuits.

Confirm available opening diameter, mounting depth, and panel clearance before installation. The manufacturer lists a 119 mm mounting cutout dimension and 48.5 mm mounting depth dimension; use suitable adapters, hardware, and wiring for the vehicle as needed.
