The Zoom ZDM-1 Podcast Mic Pack is a complete desktop vocal-recording bundle built for podcasting, streaming, voiceover work, and content creation. It combines a broadcast-style dynamic microphone with closed-back headphones and essential recording accessories in one package. This makes it a practical starting point for creators who need an XLR-based voice-recording setup.

At the center of the pack is the ZDM-1 large-diaphragm dynamic microphone. Its supercardioid pickup pattern focuses on the speaker in front of the mic while reducing sound arriving from the sides. The result is a controlled, voice-forward capture character suited to spoken-word recording.

The included ZHP-1 headphones provide closed-back isolation for monitoring a recording or listening back without as much outside distraction. Their 40 mm neodymium drivers cover a 10 Hz to 20 kHz frequency range. A self-adjusting headband and rotating ear pads support comfortable monitoring and single-ear use.

Zoom equips the ZDM-1 with an internal shockmount to help reduce mechanical and environmental vibration noise. A hum-bucking coil is designed to reduce interference, while the all-metal microphone body is made for regular recording use. The included fitted windscreen further helps reduce breath noise and vocal plosives.

The pack connects into an XLR-equipped recorder, mixer, or audio interface, making it a useful companion to an existing recording system. Its included tabletop tripod supports compact desk placement, and the supplied XLR cable gets the microphone connected to compatible gear. As recording needs grow, the microphone can also be used with a longer stand or compatible broadcast arm.

Design & Installation

The ZDM-1 uses an all-metal microphone construction with a pivoting stand mount and threaded adapter. The ZHP-1 headphones use leatherette ear pads, a self-adjusting headband, and a detachable single-sided cable. The included TPS-4 tabletop tripod has durable metal threading, folding legs, and rubber feet for desk use.

Attach the ZDM-1 to the included tabletop tripod, fit the supplied windscreen, and connect the microphone with the included 2 m XLR cable. Connect the other end of the cable to an XLR microphone input on a compatible recorder, mixer, or audio interface, then connect the headphones to that device's headphone output. The tabletop stand adjusts from 3.5 to 5 inches, making it best suited to close desktop placement.
