Zoom UAC-232 32-Bit Float USB-C Audio Interface
$199.99
Zoom ZDM-1 Podcast Mic Pack
$99.99
The Zoom UAC-232 is a compact USB-C audio interface designed to connect microphones, instruments, and line-level sources to a computer or compatible iOS/iPadOS device. Its two combo inputs support a flexible setup for vocal recording, guitar tracking, podcasting, streaming, and desktop music production. The interface provides two-channel recording and two-channel playback for straightforward stereo monitoring and playback.
Its 32-bit float recording architecture is built to handle a wide range of source levels without conventional input-gain adjustment during capture. Zoom uses dual A/D converter circuitry to record quiet and loud material with substantial level flexibility. This is useful for creators recording changing vocal performances, acoustic instruments, rehearsals, or live-streamed content.
The UAC-232 combines low-noise microphone input performance with support for dynamic and condenser microphones. Switchable +48 V phantom power is available through the XLR connections for compatible condenser microphones. Input 1 also offers a Hi-Z mode for connecting a guitar or bass directly without requiring a separate direct box.
For monitoring, the interface includes balanced TRS main outputs and a dedicated headphone output rated at 100 mW + 100 mW into a 63-ohm load. Its Direct Monitor function routes input audio to the monitoring path before it passes through the computer, helping avoid software-monitoring latency. MIDI IN and OUT ports also allow connection to compatible external keyboards, synthesizers, drum machines, and other MIDI hardware.
Zoom UAC-232 Mix Control software supports input and monitoring adjustments, routing control, loopback, and separate Music and Streaming modes. Music mode is suited to recording the two inputs as independent signals in a DAW, while Streaming mode combines inputs into a stereo mix for streaming software. The interface can run on USB bus power with a computer, while an external power source is required when using an iOS/iPadOS device.
Key Features
- 32-Bit Float Recording: Captures a wide range of input levels without conventional gain setting.
- Dual A/D Converter Circuits: Supports high-resolution recording up to 192 kHz.
- Two Combo Inputs: Connect microphones, line-level gear, or instruments in one interface.
- Hi-Z Instrument Input: Input 1 accepts guitar or bass directly.
- Direct Monitoring: Monitor input sources before computer processing for low-latency listening.
- Music And Streaming Modes: Configure routing for DAW recording or livestream mixing.
Design & Installation
The UAC-232 uses a compact desktop-oriented chassis with integrated side handles and a layout that separates input, monitoring, USB, power, output, and MIDI connections. Zoom does not publish a chassis material specification. It can be placed vertically or horizontally, and the included flat cable fasteners can secure cables or help attach the unit to a microphone stand.
Connect microphones with XLR cables, line-level sources with TRS cables, and a guitar or bass to Input 1 with Hi-Z enabled. Use the USB-C audio port with a data-capable USB cable to connect a computer or compatible mobile device, then connect headphones and/or powered monitors to the appropriate outputs. Mac computers do not require a driver, while Windows users should install the dedicated Zoom driver before first DAW recording use.
