The Zoom MS-50G+ is a compact multi-effects pedal for electric guitar players who want a broad effects palette without filling a pedalboard with individual stompboxes. It combines drive, modulation, delay, reverb, dynamics, filter, special effects, and preamp-style processing in one pedal-format unit. It is suited to players building a flexible practice, recording, or live-performance rig.
Its effect library includes 102 installed effects, with choices ranging from classic-style effect emulations to Zoom original designs. Effects can be arranged in a user-selected signal path, allowing players to build sounds around gain staging, modulation, ambience, and tone shaping. Zoom also supports additional effect management through the Handy Guitar Lab for MS-50G+ app.
Each patch can use up to six effects at once, and the pedal stores up to 100 user patch memories. This makes it practical to create separate sounds for songs, amp channels, alternate tunings, or recording setups. Patch memories retain assigned effects, order, on/off states, and parameter settings.
The MS-50G+ provides a mono instrument input and separate L/R 1/4-inch outputs for mono or stereo operation. Stereo routing is useful for compatible chorus, delay, and reverb effects when connecting to two amplifiers, two interface inputs, or a stereo effects return. For a mono setup, the manual specifies using the MONO output.
A 160 x 128 dot-matrix LCD, color-coded effect categories, four parameter knobs, direction buttons, and a footswitch provide hands-on operation. The pedal also includes a chromatic tuner, tap-tempo capability, patch preselect operation, USB-C connectivity, and three power options. It can run from two AA batteries, USB bus power, or a specified 9V DC adapter.
Key Features
- 102 Installed Effects: Covers drives, modulation, delay, reverb, compression, filters, preamps, and special effects.
- Six-Effect Signal Chains: Combine and reorder up to six effects within one patch memory.
- 100 User Patches: Save complete custom setups with effect order, settings, and on/off status.
- Stereo L/R Outputs: Supports stereo-capable effects with two standard 1/4-inch output jacks.
- Color-Coded LCD: Changes backlight color by effect category for easier navigation.
- Flexible Power Options: Operates from AA batteries, USB bus power, or a 9V DC adapter.
Design & Installation
The MS-50G+ uses a metal frame designed for pedalboard and stage use. Its compact enclosure measures 133 mm deep, 79 mm wide, and 61 mm high, while weighing 353 g without batteries. The control layout combines four encoder knobs with foot-operable direction buttons and a dedicated footswitch.
Connect a guitar or another pedal to the mono INPUT jack, then connect the L/R outputs to an amplifier, audio interface, mixer, or subsequent effects. Use the MONO output when running a single-output setup, or connect both outputs for stereo-capable patches. Power the pedal with two AA batteries, USB-C bus power, or the specified Zoom AD-16 9V DC center-negative adapter; a data-capable USB-C cable is required for firmware updates and Handy Guitar Lab connectivity.
