BOSS GX-10 Guitar & Bass Effects Processor

The BOSS GX-10 is a compact multi-effects processor and amp modeler for electric guitar and bass. It consolidates amplifiers, effects, speaker simulation, phrase looping, and performance control into one portable floor unit. It is suited to players who want a streamlined rig for practice, recording, rehearsal, or live use.

Built around the same sound engine used in the larger GX-100, the GX-10 provides 32 amplifier types and 170 BOSS effects. Its AIRD processing is designed to reproduce amplifier response while offering flexible signal routing. Guitar and bass players can build sounds ranging from clean direct tones to layered ambient and high-gain setups.

The color touch display and four parameter knobs make it practical to create, adjust, and organize patches from the unit itself. Up to two amps and 15 assignable effects blocks can be used in a memory, depending on the configuration. Serial and parallel routing options help accommodate detailed signal chains without requiring a large pedalboard.

For integration with existing equipment, the GX-10 includes stereo outputs, a headphone output, and a send/return loop for external pedals. It also supports onboard speaker types and user-loaded WAV speaker IRs for direct recording and full-range playback systems. USB-C connectivity enables computer or compatible mobile-device audio recording and playback, while BOSS Tone Studio provides additional editing tools.

The GX-10 is housed in a compact metal chassis with three multifunction footswitches and an integrated expression pedal with toe switch. Additional footswitch or expression control can be connected through its external control jack. Optional Bluetooth hardware expands wireless editing and audio streaming capabilities with compatible iOS and Android devices.

Design & Installation

The GX-10 uses a rugged metal chassis designed for portable floor use. Its compact enclosure measures under 12 inches wide, while the color graphic LCD touch screen, dedicated controls, footswitches, and expression pedal keep core functions accessible from the unit. The included AC adapter powers the processor.

Connect a guitar or bass to the INPUT jack and route the L/MONO output to a mono amplifier, powered speaker, audio interface, or PA input; use both output jacks for stereo operation. The SEND and RETURN jacks allow an external pedal to be placed within the GX-10 signal chain, while the PHONES output supports private monitoring. Use the CTL2,3/EXP2 jack with a compatible external footswitch or expression pedal when more real-time control is needed.
