BOSS SDE-3000EVH Dual Digital Delay Pedal

The BOSS SDE-3000EVH is a special-edition dual digital delay pedal designed for guitarists who want detailed stereo delay processing and routing flexibility in a floor-based format. It combines two independently configurable SDE-3000-style delay engines in one unit. The pedal is built for players using mono, stereo, or multi-amplifier guitar systems.

Created in collaboration with EVH, the SDE-3000EVH includes eight dedicated EVH presets based on the two delays used in Eddie Van Halen's live rig. Four presets are intended for wet/dry/wet operation, while four adapt the sounds for stereo amplifier setups. The EVH presets are internally locked, with output-level adjustment available.

The delay character is modeled after the vintage Roland SDE-3000 rackmount unit, including its warm digital response and modulation behavior. Each delay offers independent parameter control, mono or stereo modulation, and panning. Selectable delay ranges provide settings from 0 to 1500 ms or 0 to 3000 ms.

For players building wider rigs, the SDE-3000EVH offers routing for direct and effects outputs, allowing wet/dry/wet configurations with up to three amplifiers. The two delay engines can operate in series for layered rhythmic effects or in parallel for wider stereo processing. Adjustable low-cut and high-cut filters help shape the delay feedback tone.

The pedal also supports modern control needs without abandoning its classic-style workflow. It provides 92 user memories in addition to the eight EVH presets, along with onboard switching for memory selection, tap tempo, delay hold, and other assignable functions. MIDI, external footswitch, expression-pedal, GA-FC, and USB-MIDI support make it suitable for expandable pedalboard and amplifier systems.

Design & Installation

The SDE-3000EVH uses a compact pedal-format design with a 12-digit LED display, dedicated panel buttons, three onboard footswitches, and EVH stripe graphics. Its control layout is based on the original Roland SDE-3000 rack delay interface. BOSS includes four rubber feet for stable placement and lists the unit at 199 mm wide, 135 mm deep, and 54 mm high including the feet.

Connect guitars and pedalboards through the 1/4-inch input jacks, then configure the outputs for the intended mono, stereo, or wet/dry/wet system. A send and return loop allows an external effect to be inserted or supports four-cable-method amplifier-loop connections; the return impedance is switchable for system matching. The included AC adaptor powers the unit, while the three included ground-lift cables can help address hum in multi-amplifier setups.
