BOSS GX-100 Guitar & Bass Multi-Effects Processor

The BOSS GX-100 is a floor-based multi-effects processor for electric guitar and bass. It brings amp modeling, speaker simulation, effects processing, switching, and expression control into one compact performance unit. This helps players replace or consolidate multiple pedals and streamline their live, practice, or recording setups.

Designed for guitarists and bassists who need flexible tones without a large pedalboard, the GX-100 provides a broad range of amp and effect options in programmable patches. Its AIRD amp technology is designed to provide responsive playing feel while allowing the output to be tailored for an amp, full-range monitor, headphones, or a PA system. The unit includes 200 user memories plus 100 preset memories for organizing sounds by song, set, or playing style.

The processing platform supports 32 amplifier types and more than 170 effects, including effects suited to both guitar and bass. Up to 15 assignable blocks can be used within a patch, with additional divider/mixer, send/return, and phrase-loop functions available as system blocks. Series and parallel routing allow players to build practical chains ranging from simple amp-and-effects patches to more detailed stereo rigs.

A 480 x 272 color touchscreen works with physical knobs, page controls, and footswitches for direct editing on the unit. The GX-100 uses 24-bit AD conversion, 32-bit DA conversion, 32-bit floating-point processing, and a 48 kHz sampling frequency. An onboard expression pedal with toe switch and freely assignable footswitches support hands-free control during performance.

The GX-100 can serve as the center of a pedalboard, an amp-effects-loop rig, a direct-to-PA setup, or a USB recording system. Its send/return loop supports external effects and four-cable-method connections with compatible amplifiers. USB computer connectivity, MIDI I/O, amp-control outputs, headphone monitoring, and optional Bluetooth expansion provide paths for integrating it into a larger music setup.

Design & Installation

The GX-100 uses a rugged metal chassis in a streamlined floorboard format. Its color graphic LCD touchscreen is paired with dedicated buttons, four parameter knobs, a select knob, output-level control, and an integrated EXP1 pedal. The physical layout is intended to provide direct access to patch, bank, effect, and controller functions while standing.

Connect an instrument to the 1/4-inch input and route the left/mono and right outputs to an amplifier, powered speaker, audio interface, or mixing system as appropriate. The send and return jacks can add external pedals or connect to an amplifier effects loop, while the phones output supports private monitoring. For expanded control, compatible external footswitches or an expression pedal may be connected, and the optional BT-DUAL adaptor enables wireless mobile-device audio and MIDI functions.
