The Zoom G2 FOUR is a compact guitar multi-effects processor for players who want a wide range of amp, cabinet, and effect sounds in one floor-based unit. It combines built-in guitar effects, amp/cabinet models, a tuner, rhythm patterns, and a phrase looper for practice, recording, and performance use. It is suited to guitarists building a first pedalboard, simplifying an existing setup, or creating direct-recording tones.

Its sound design centers on 79 built-in guitar effects and 22 amp/cabinet models, covering gain, modulation, delay, reverb, dynamics, filtering, and other processing categories. Patches can hold up to six effects plus one pedal effect simultaneously, allowing layered signal chains without using separate pedals. The G2 FOUR provides 300 patch locations, including 250 factory presets and 50 user locations for customized setups.

Zoom Multi-Layer IR technology is used in the amp/cabinet models to help reproduce cabinet behavior at different playing volumes. The processor blends impulse-response layers captured at three volume levels, responding to guitar volume changes within the modeled setup. This gives players a practical way to build amp-style tones for direct monitoring, headphones, powered speakers, or a guitar amplifier.

An 80-second looper and 68 onboard rhythm patterns support solo practice, songwriting, and quick idea capture. The integrated tuner supports open and drop tunings, while the output EQ provides low, mid, high, and level adjustment for adapting the sound to a room or playback system. Four rotary encoders and cross-key foot controls provide access to patch selection and parameter editing from the unit.

For recording and editing, the G2 FOUR includes USB-C connectivity and operates as a 2-in/2-out USB audio interface at 44.1 kHz and 32-bit. It can connect with compatible computers, smartphones, and tablets, and it supports the Handy Guitar Lab for G2 FOUR app for patch management and adding effects. AMP and LINE output modes help tailor the processor for guitar amps or headphones and monitor speakers.

Key Features

  • 79 Built-In Effects: Covers a broad range of guitar processing in one pedal.
  • 22 Amp/Cabinet Models: Adds modeled amplifier and speaker-cabinet voices to patches.
  • Multi-Layer IR Technology: Uses layered cabinet impulse responses at different volume levels.
  • 300 Patch Memories: Stores 250 factory presets and 50 user-created patches.
  • 80-Second Looper: Records layered phrases for practice and songwriting.
  • USB Audio Interface: Sends processed audio to compatible recording devices.

Design & Installation

The G2 FOUR uses a compact floor-pedal layout intended for pedalboards and hands-free operation. Its interface combines a 256 x 128 dot-matrix LCD, four rotary encoders, cross-key footswitch controls, dedicated input and output jacks, and a side-mounted USB-C port. Zoom specifies the compact enclosure dimensions and control layout, but does not publish a housing-material specification.

Connect a guitar to the standard mono INPUT jack, then run the LEFT/RIGHT outputs to a guitar amp or powered monitors; a stereo mini AUX IN accepts an external music player for practice. Use the PHONES jack for headphone monitoring, select AMP or LINE output mode for the connected system, and power the unit with the supplied Zoom AD-16 adapter or supported USB bus power. An optional Zoom FP02M expression pedal connects to the G2 FOUR CONTROL IN jack for pedal-effect control.
