Zoom ZDM-1 Podcast Mic Pack $99.99 Shure SRH440A Over-Ear Studio Headphones $109.00
Bundle total: $408.98

The Zoom AMS-44 is a compact 4-in/4-out USB audio interface made for recording music, producing podcasts, and livestreaming from a computer or compatible mobile device. Its four combo inputs make it practical for capturing multiple microphones, instruments, or line-level sources in one session. It is a useful fit for creators who need more input capacity than a basic two-channel interface provides.

Four built-in mic preamps support XLR microphones and 1/4-inch TRS connections, while Input 1 also offers a Hi-Z guitar setting for a passive guitar or bass. The interface provides up to 58 dB of input gain in MIC/LINE mode and an equivalent input noise rating of -120 dBu or less. A shared +48V phantom-power switch supports condenser microphones connected through the XLR inputs.

The AMS-44 uses separate Music and Streaming modes to suit different workflows. Music mode supports four-channel recording for DAW-based production, while Streaming mode combines inputs into a signal intended for simpler webcast and podcast setups. A Stereo Link switch lets Inputs 3 and 4 operate as a left/right stereo pair when connecting a stereo keyboard or similar source.

Direct Monitor allows connected input signals to be heard before they pass through the computer, helping performers monitor during recording. The Loopback function can mix the interface inputs with computer playback and send that mix back to the computer for streaming. Two headphone outputs and a stereo TRS monitor output provide flexible listening connections for solo work or two-person sessions.

USB-C connectivity supports use with computers, smartphones, and tablets, with 24-bit audio at sample rates up to 96 kHz. The AMS-44 can run from USB bus power when connected to a computer, or from two AA batteries or an external 5V supply for mobile use. It can serve as the front end of a portable recording rig, a desktop podcast setup, or a compact streaming system with powered monitors and headphones.

Key Features

  • Four Combo Inputs: Connect up to four microphones, instruments, or line-level sources.
  • Music And Streaming Modes: Switch between multichannel recording and simplified streaming signal routing.
  • Hi-Z Guitar Input: Input 1 supports passive guitar and bass connections.
  • Direct Monitoring: Hear input sources before audio passes through the computer.
  • Loopback Function: Mix computer playback with live inputs for streaming.
  • Portable Power Options: Use USB bus power, external 5V power, or AA batteries.

Design & Installation

The AMS-44 uses a compact desktop-oriented format measuring 129.0 mm wide, 74.0 mm deep, and 46.0 mm high. Its connection layout includes four XLR/TRS combo inputs, a stereo pair of impedance-balanced TRS monitor outputs, and two 3.5 mm stereo headphone outputs. Dedicated gain controls, output controls, mode switches, and status indicators keep essential recording and monitoring adjustments on the hardware.

Connect the USB-C audio port directly to a computer, smartphone, or tablet with a data-capable USB cable. Windows computers require the dedicated Zoom AMS-44 driver for DAW recording, while Macs do not require a driver according to the manufacturer manual. For smartphone or tablet use, power the interface first with two AA batteries, the optional Zoom AD-17 adapter, or a compatible USB mobile battery; connect powered speakers to OUTPUT A and headphones to either headphone output.
