The Shure MV88+ Video Kit is a compact digital stereo condenser microphone package built for recording clearer audio with compatible mobile devices and computers. It combines the MV88+ microphone with a phone clamp, shoe-mount microphone clip, Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, and connection cables. This makes it a practical setup for mobile video, interviews, livestreams, podcasts, music capture, and field recording.

Its Mid-Side microphone arrangement uses separate cardioid and bidirectional condenser capsules to create an adjustable stereo image. Users can choose stereo width or select mono cardioid or mono bidirectional pickup patterns for different recording situations. The result is a flexible capture tool that can be aimed at a single speaker, two people facing one another, or a wider sound scene.

The MV88+ supports a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, adjustable gain, and up to 120 dB SPL handling at minimum gain in Flat mode. Its all-metal housing is designed for portable use, while the included foam windscreen helps reduce light wind and plosive noise. A built-in 3.5 mm headphone output allows direct monitoring during recording.

Shure MOTIV Audio and Video apps provide access to microphone gain, stereo width, a five-band EQ, limiter, compressor, high-pass filter, and DSP presets. Presets include Speech, Singing, Acoustic, Loud, and Flat, giving users a quick starting point before making manual adjustments. The microphone supports 16- or 24-bit digital recording at 44.1 or 48 kHz.

The kit connects through its Micro-B USB port using the supplied Micro-B-to-Lightning or Micro-B-to-USB-C cable, with a USB-A cable included for computer connection. The phone clamp can mount to tripods with a 1/4-inch-20 connection, allowing the kit to expand into a desktop, handheld, or tripod-mounted recording setup. It is well suited to creators who need a compact external microphone system rather than relying solely on a device's built-in microphone.

Design & Installation

The MV88+ uses an all-metal microphone housing with a metal-mesh capsule screen and includes a foam windscreen. Its compact body measures 27 x 27 x 77 mm without the windscreen and weighs 79 g. The supplied Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, phone clamp, shoe-mount mic clip, and neoprene roll-up bag create a portable, organized recording package.

Mount the phone in the clamp, secure the microphone in the shoe-mount clip, and connect the correct supplied Lightning or USB-C cable to a compatible device. For a desktop or computer setup, use the included Micro-B-to-USB-A cable; headphones connect to the microphone's 3.5 mm monitor output. The clamp also fits tripod setups with a 1/4-inch-20 connector, while the folded PIXI tripod can be used as a handheld grip.
