Shure BLX14R/MX53-H11 Rack-Mount Wireless Earset System

The Shure BLX14R/MX53-H11 is a rack-mount wireless earset system built for clear, hands-free spoken-word reinforcement. It combines a BLX4R single-channel receiver, BLX1 bodypack transmitter, and MX153 omnidirectional earset microphone. The H11 version operates in the 572–596 MHz UHF frequency band, so frequency authorization and local spectrum suitability should be checked before purchase.

This system is suited to presenters, instructors, worship leaders, lecturers, and AV teams who need mobility without holding a microphone. The lightweight earset keeps the microphone positioned close to the speaker while leaving both hands free. Its omnidirectional capsule is designed for natural speech capture with no proximity effect.

The BLX platform uses analog UHF wireless transmission and provides a stated line-of-sight operating range of up to 300 feet. QuickScan group and channel selection helps locate an available operating frequency during setup. Up to 12 compatible BLX systems can operate simultaneously per frequency band when RF conditions allow.

The MX153 earset uses a subminiature electret condenser capsule with an omnidirectional pickup pattern. Its flexible over-ear structure can be worn over either ear, while the Kevlar-reinforced soft-flex cable supports everyday presentation use. CommShield technology is included to help guard the microphone against interference from cellular RF devices and digital bodypack transmitters.

The BLX4R receiver is designed for installation in a standard 19-inch equipment rack using the included hardware. Balanced XLR and unbalanced 1/4-inch outputs allow connection to a mixer, installed sound system, or amplifier. The system can serve as a complete single-presenter solution or as one channel within a larger BLX wireless setup.

Design & Installation

The BLX4R receiver combines molded ABS and steel construction in a compact rack-ready format, while the BLX1 bodypack uses a molded ABS housing. The MX153 features an ultra-lightweight flexible earset design, a Kevlar-reinforced cable, and a TA4F/TQG connector. The receiver includes removable quarter-wave BNC antennas and an LCD for RF and audio metering.

Mount the receiver in a standard 19-inch rack with the supplied brackets and hardware, then connect its XLR or 1/4-inch output to a mixer, powered speaker system, or amplifier. Install two AA batteries in the BLX1, connect the MX153 to the bodypack's four-pin input, and match the transmitter group and channel to the receiver after scanning. For best wireless performance, keep the transmitter within the recommended line-of-sight range and verify that the H11 band is appropriate for the intended location.
