The sE Electronics V7 NI-25AE is a wired dynamic handheld microphone made for vocals, spoken-word work, and close-miked live or studio applications. This brushed-nickel 25th Anniversary Edition uses the core V7 platform with an XLR output and supercardioid pickup pattern. It is suited to singers, presenters, podcasters, broadcasters, and musicians who need a durable microphone with focused sound capture.

The V7 is voiced around a custom DMC7 dynamic capsule with an aluminum voice coil and neodymium magnet. Its specified 40 Hz to 19 kHz frequency range supports full vocal fundamentals along with upper-frequency detail. The supercardioid pattern helps focus on the intended source while reducing pickup from surrounding stage sound.

For live use, the directional capsule design is intended to support higher usable gain before feedback than a less focused pickup pattern. The microphone's patented integrated shockmount decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration to reduce handling and rumble noise. An internal windscreen helps control wind noise and plosive sounds during close vocal work.

The V7 NI-25AE has an all-metal body with a durable zinc-alloy chassis and a spring-steel grille. Its beveled grille edge helps keep the microphone from rolling when it is set on a flat surface. A gold-plated, 3-pin male XLR connector provides the balanced analog connection used by mixers, audio interfaces, stage boxes, and microphone preamps.

This microphone can be used directly with an XLR-equipped PA mixer or recording interface; it does not require phantom power for normal operation. It can also serve as a practical upgrade for vocalists moving from entry-level stage microphones to a more controlled supercardioid design. Beyond vocals and speech, sE Electronics lists it for broadcasting, podcasting, electric guitar, and drums.

Key Features

  • Dynamic DMC7 Capsule: Aluminum voice coil supports clear, natural source capture.
  • Supercardioid Pattern: Focuses pickup on the performer and limits stage bleed.
  • Integrated Shockmount: Reduces handling vibration and low-frequency mechanical noise.
  • All-Metal Construction: Zinc-alloy housing is built for regular stage use.
  • Spring-Steel Grille: Beveled grille resists corrosion and helps prevent rolling.
  • Gold-Plated XLR Output: Provides a dependable balanced analog microphone connection.

Design & Installation

The V7 NI-25AE combines a brushed-nickel finish with the V7's all-metal chassis, zinc-alloy body, and corrosion-resistant spring-steel mesh grille. Its 54 mm diameter and 184 mm length follow a familiar handheld vocal-microphone form factor. The integrated shockmount and internal windscreen are designed into the microphone body rather than requiring separate external accessories.

Connect the microphone's 3-pin male XLR output to a balanced XLR cable, then route that cable to a mixer, audio interface, stage box, or microphone preamp. Mount it in the included microphone clip on a compatible stand using the included thread adapter when needed. For best rejection, aim the front of the microphone toward the performer and position stage monitors outside the supercardioid pickup area's most sensitive zones.
