Rockford Fosgate PMX-1R 2.7" Wired Marine Remote

The Rockford Fosgate PMX-1R is a full-function wired remote designed to add convenient system control to compatible Punch Marine PMX source units. It gives boat, powersports, and outdoor-audio users a dedicated control point away from the main receiver. Its 2.7-inch full-color display provides source and system feedback where it is needed most.

This remote is intended for systems where the source unit is mounted out of reach, such as a hidden receiver installation or a larger vessel with multiple seating areas. It provides access to source selection, volume, track or station changes, menu navigation, and playback controls. Zone-volume adjustment and front-panel subwoofer control help keep system operation close at hand.

The PMX-1R does not produce audio or power speakers on its own; it operates as a wired controller for a compatible PMX receiver. Its control layout combines a rotary encoder with dedicated buttons for common listening adjustments. The result is direct physical control without needing to access the primary source unit.

A 2.7-inch color TFT display is optically wet bonded for clear viewing and resistance to dust or moisture intrusion behind the screen. The display includes two selectable brightness levels, while the button illumination is backlit for visibility in low-light conditions. A waterproof rotary encoder supports volume, zone-volume, menu-navigation, and setting adjustments.

The PMX-1R fits into a Rockford Fosgate PMX marine or motorsports system as an additional command location. It is compatible with PMX-8BB, PMX-5, PMX-5CAN, PMX-3, and PMX-2 source units. Up to three compatible remotes may be used in a system with a total wired distance of up to 100 feet.

Design & Installation

The PMX-1R uses a compact round-mount design with a 2.7-inch color TFT display, waterproof rotary encoder, and backlit LED button illumination. Its front panel carries an IPX6 rating and is also certified to ISO 8846 and SAE J1171. The optically wet-bonded display design is intended to maintain clear viewing while helping prevent dust and moisture from entering behind the LCD.

Installation requires a flat mounting surface with sufficient rear clearance and a 3-inch (77 mm) circular cutout. The remote requires a Rockford Fosgate PMX extension cable, with PMX10C, PMX16C, PMX25C, and PMX50C cable options available separately; a PMXYC Y-adapter is used when adding remotes. Mount the unit with the supplied mounting hardware, connect it to a compatible PMX source unit, and keep the combined wired run within the 100-foot system limit.
