Rockford Fosgate M5-1000X1 Mono Marine Amplifier

The Rockford Fosgate M5-1000X1 is a compact mono amplifier designed to add dedicated bass power to marine, motorsports, and other exposed-environment audio systems. Its single-channel configuration is intended for driving a compatible subwoofer load, with continuous power ratings up to 750 watts RMS. The compact chassis helps solve installation-space challenges where a conventional full-size amplifier may be difficult to mount.

Built for systems used around water, dust, mud, and sunlight, the M5-1000X1 carries an IPX6 water-spray rating and Element Ready construction. Integrated harness and panel seals help protect its connections, while the top-mounted controls are covered by a smoked lens. It is a practical fit for boats, UTVs, and similar applications that need a purpose-built low-frequency amplifier.

The amplifier uses a Class-BD circuit topology and a low-pass crossover designed for bass reproduction. Continuous output is rated at 500 watts x 1 at 4 ohms and 750 watts x 1 at either 2 or 1 ohm. Dynamic power is rated up to 1000 watts x 1 at 1 ohm for musical peaks.

Rockford Fosgate C.L.E.A.N. circuitry provides input and output clip indication to help set gain levels with less guesswork. Balanced differential inputs help reduce noise picked up by signal cables, and the amplifier supports both RCA low-level and Molex high-level signal inputs. A PRESET mode is also included for use with compatible Rockford Fosgate UTV audio kits.

The M5-1000X1 is suited to a system upgrade centered on a properly matched marine or powersports subwoofer. Its 50-250 Hz low-pass filter, 30 Hz infrasonic filter, and 0-18 dB Punch EQ allow the bass channel to be tailored to the subwoofer and enclosure. Use the amplifier with appropriate wiring, fusing, and a stable 1-, 2-, or 4-ohm speaker load.

Design & Installation

The M5-1000X1 uses an extruded-aluminum heatsink with convection cooling and a focused-mass design around critical internal components. Its Element Ready layout includes integrated harness and panel seals, molded connection hardware, and a top-mounted control panel beneath a smoked cover. The chassis measures 1.7 inches high, 4.25 inches wide, and 8.41 inches deep without harnesses.

Install the amplifier using its included harnesses and connectors, with 8 AWG power wiring and a recommended 70A fuse. The main power cable should be fused within 18 inches of the battery, and each amplifier should have individual fusing when multiple amplifiers share a power cable. Set the low-pass crossover, infrasonic filter, Punch EQ, and input level to suit the connected subwoofer, enclosure, and source unit.
