The Rockford Fosgate Punch PBR300X1 is a compact mono amplifier made to add subwoofer power where traditional amplifier space is limited. It delivers up to 300 watts RMS to a 1-ohm load while measuring just 1.53 by 4.25 by 6.75 inches. Its low-pass-only design makes it suited to focused bass-system upgrades.
This amplifier is a practical fit for cars, trucks, motorcycles, ATVs, hybrids, and other installations where mounting room is at a premium. It supports both RCA low-level and speaker-level input connections, allowing it to work with many aftermarket and factory audio systems. A selectable high/low input mode helps match the installation method to the source unit.
The PBR300X1 provides 75 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 150 watts RMS at 2 ohms, and 300 watts RMS at 1 ohm. Its variable low-pass crossover lets the installer set the upper bass cutoff from 35 Hz to 250 Hz. This helps blend a connected subwoofer with the vehicle's main speakers.
Rockford Fosgate Class BR Boosted Rail technology is used to deliver its output from a very small chassis. The amplifier uses a MOSFET output stage, an extruded aluminum heatsink, and convection cooling. Power/Protect and BRT status LEDs provide visible operating feedback from the top-mounted control area.
For factory-radio integration, the amplifier includes speaker-level inputs and a variable 4 to 6 volt DC-offset turn-on adjustment. An optional Rockford Fosgate PEQ remote can control the amplifier's Punch EQ bass boost circuit. With appropriate wiring, fusing, and a correctly matched subwoofer load, the PBR300X1 can serve as the bass amplifier in a compact system.
Key Features
- Compact Mono Design: Fits in space-constrained vehicle audio installations.
- 1-Ohm Stable Power: Delivers 300 watts RMS at 1 ohm.
- Class BR Topology: Supports compact boosted-rail amplifier engineering.
- High-Level Inputs: Connects to factory speaker-output signals when needed.
- Variable Low-Pass Filter: Adjusts bass crossover from 35 Hz to 250 Hz.
- Optional PEQ Remote: Enables remote control of Punch EQ bass boost.
Design & Installation
The PBR300X1 uses an extruded aluminum heatsink to dissipate heat, with convection cooling rather than a fan. Its small enclosure measures 1.53 inches high, 4.25 inches wide, and 6.75 inches long. Top-mounted status LEDs indicate power/protection status and Boosted Rail operation.
Use a subwoofer wiring configuration that presents no lower than a 1-ohm load, and select the matching power rating when choosing a subwoofer. Rockford Fosgate recommends 10 AWG wire for the amplifier's power and ground connections and specifies a 30A external battery fuse. Mount it outside the engine compartment with adequate ventilation; installations under a seat require at least 1 inch of air gap around the heatsink.

Can this amplifier power a subwoofer?
Yes. The PBR300X1 is a mono amplifier with a low-pass-only crossover for subwoofer use. It provides 75 watts RMS at 4 ohms, 150 watts RMS at 2 ohms, or 300 watts RMS at 1 ohm.
Will it work with a factory radio?
Yes, it supports high-level speaker inputs as well as RCA low-level inputs. The high-level input mode also has a variable 4 to 6 volt DC-offset turn-on adjustment.
What impedance load can I use?
The amplifier is rated for mono operation at 4, 2, or 1 ohm. Do not wire the connected subwoofer system below 1 ohm.
What wiring and fuse are required?
Rockford Fosgate recommends 10 AWG wire for the power and ground connections. A 30A external battery fuse is specified and should be installed within 18 inches of the battery; the fuse holder and fuse are not included.
What comes in the box?
The carton includes the amplifier, an RCA/speaker input harness, a speaker output harness, an installation and operation manual, and mounting hardware. The optional PEQ remote bass controller is not listed as included.
What warranty applies?
Punch amplifiers carry a one-year limited warranty when purchased from an authorized Rockford Fosgate dealer in the United States. Coverage applies to the original purchaser and requires proof of purchase.
