Hertz DP1-500 Mono Class-D Car Amplifier
$249.99
AUDIO360 AD4C 4 Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit
$50.00
The Hertz DP1-500 is a compact mono Class-D car amplifier designed to power a subwoofer in systems where space and dependable bass output matter. It delivers 500 watts RMS into a 2-ohm load at 1% THD, making it suited to a properly matched 2-ohm subwoofer setup. Its single-channel design focuses system resources on low-frequency reproduction rather than full-range speaker amplification.
This amplifier is a practical choice for drivers upgrading a factory or aftermarket audio system with dedicated bass. RCA pre-in and speaker-level inputs provide connection options for many source units, including systems that retain the factory radio. A full-range pre-out also supports expansion to additional amplifiers.
The DP1-500 uses Advanced Class-D circuitry and is stable to 2 ohms. Its 86% efficiency helps it provide substantial subwoofer power from a compact chassis. With a 10 Hz to 500 Hz bandwidth, it is engineered for bass-channel duty.
System tuning is handled with an adjustable low-pass filter, a selectable 25 Hz subsonic filter, phase selection, and bass boost centered at 50 Hz. These controls help blend a subwoofer with the vehicle's main speakers and accommodate different enclosure designs. Balanced pre-in and speaker-in circuitry is included to help reject noise in the signal path.
For integration with newer factory systems, the built-in Universal Speaker Simulator is designed to work with head units that monitor speaker load. Automatic Remote Turn-On/Off can be triggered from compatible BTL speaker-level outputs, reducing the need for a separate remote-turn-on connection in applicable installations. The amplifier is also compatible with the optional Hertz HRC 02 remote level control.
Key Features
- 500W RMS at 2 Ohms: Supplies dedicated power for a properly matched subwoofer.
- Mono Class-D Design: Delivers efficient bass amplification in a compact footprint.
- High- and Low-Level Inputs: Connects to aftermarket radios or compatible factory systems.
- Universal Speaker Simulator: Supports integration with speaker-load-detecting factory head units.
- Bass Tuning Controls: Low-pass, subsonic, phase, and bass boost aid system setup.
- Full-Range Pre-Out: Makes it easier to add another amplifier later.
Design & Installation
The DP1-500 combines a compact 190 x 152 x 50 mm chassis with a removable top panel that protects its controls and connections. It uses solid machined terminal blocks and an integrated status LED. The amplifier weighs 1.62 kg and is intended for installation inside the vehicle, away from water, excess humidity, dust, and dirt.
Use this amplifier with a subwoofer system presenting no less than a 2-ohm final load. It requires a 12V negative-ground vehicle electrical system, a fused power connection, ground wiring, and either RCA pre-in or speaker-level input wiring. Allow ventilation around the amplifier, set the input level and filters during installation, and use the optional HRC 02 only if in-cabin subwoofer-level adjustment is desired.

What subwoofer load can I use with the DP1-500?
The amplifier is rated for a minimum 2-ohm load. It produces 500W RMS x 1 at 2 ohms and 280W RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, both measured at 1% THD.
Can I connect it to a factory radio?
Yes. The DP1-500 has speaker-level inputs with 1.6 to 40 Vrms sensitivity and built-in Universal Speaker Simulator technology. Its automatic remote turn-on function is intended for compatible BTL radio speaker outputs.
Can I use RCA connections from an aftermarket receiver?
Yes. The amplifier has pre-in connections with an input sensitivity range of 0.32 to 8 Vrms. It also includes a full-range pre-out for adding another amplifier.
What installation hardware is included?
The package includes the amplifier, an installed 30A ATO fuse, a spare 30A fuse, an 8-inch speaker-level input harness, 4 mm and 2 mm Allen wrenches, four M4 x 25 mm mounting screws with washers, and a quick-start guide.
Does it include a wired bass-level control?
No. The Hertz HRC 02 wired remote level control is optional. The DP1-500 is ready to work with that accessory.
What vehicle electrical system does it require?
It is intended for 12V DC negative-ground vehicles. Its operating supply-voltage range is 6.5 to 17.5 VDC, and it uses one 30A fuse.
