Rockford Fosgate PM600X4 4-Channel Marine Amplifier

The Rockford Fosgate PM600X4 is a marine-grade four-channel amplifier designed to add clean, configurable power to boat and motorsports audio systems. It is suited to installations that need more output than a source unit can provide while retaining flexible speaker-system options. Its 600-watt total RMS rating supports full-range speakers, subwoofers, or a combination of both.

This amplifier can operate as a conventional four-channel model, a bridged two-channel model, or a three-channel system with front speakers and a bridged rear subwoofer channel pair. It delivers 75 watts RMS to each channel at 4 ohms or 150 watts RMS to each channel at 2 ohms. When bridged, it provides 300 watts RMS per pair at 4 ohms.

Its Class A/B circuit topology is intended for detailed full-range amplification, with a frequency response rated from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Adjustable high-pass and low-pass crossovers help direct appropriate frequencies to speakers or subwoofers. Front and rear Punch EQ controls provide bass and treble adjustment for system tuning.

The PM600X4 is built for use around water, dust, and changing temperatures in marine and powersports environments. It uses a conformal-coated circuit board with a marine-grade two-part epoxy coating, marine-grade stainless-steel hardware, and a cast-aluminum heatsink. Convection cooling and protection circuitry support dependable operation in properly installed systems.

For system expansion, the amplifier provides high- and low-level input capability, automatic turn-on capability with high-level inputs, and RCA pass-through outputs. Its C.L.E.A.N. setup system uses clip indicators to help set amplifier gain appropriately. An optional Rockford Fosgate PLC2 Punch Level Control can be added for convenient level adjustment.

Design & Installation

The PM600X4 uses a compact cast-aluminum heatsink measuring approximately 13.3 by 7.8 by 2.4 inches. Its top-mounted control panel keeps adjustments accessible while maintaining a clean installation appearance. The circuit board receives a marine-grade two-part epoxy coating, and the amplifier uses marine-grade stainless-steel hardware.

Use 4 AWG power wiring and install the recommended 100-amp fuse in the main power run. The amplifier accepts high- or low-level signal input through two pairs of RCA inputs and provides one pair of RCA pass-through outputs. Match stereo channels to 2- or 4-ohm speaker loads, and use only a 4-ohm load per bridged channel pair.
