The Audison SR4-500 is a compact four-channel Class D car amplifier designed to add substantial, configurable power to an upgraded speaker system. It can drive four speakers, operate as a three-channel amplifier with a bridged subwoofer channel, or run as a powerful two-channel amplifier. This flexibility makes it suitable for front-and-rear speaker upgrades, active systems, and front-stage-plus-subwoofer installations.
At 14.4 VDC and 1% THD, the SR4-500 is rated for 130 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms or 220 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms. Each channel pair can be bridged, with a two-channel configuration rated at 450 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms. Its 2-ohm-stable four-channel output stage supports efficient use with many aftermarket speaker systems.
The amplifier accepts both RCA preamp signals and high-level speaker signals, helping it integrate with either an aftermarket receiver or a factory audio system. Balanced high-level inputs and the built-in Universal Speaker Simulator support connection to OEM source units. Selectable ART automatic remote turn-on can switch the amplifier on from compatible speaker-level signals.
Audison D-Class Technology is used to keep the chassis compact while providing wide bandwidth, low measured distortion, and a 200 damping factor specification. The SR4-500 includes separate adjustable crossover controls for its front and rear channel sections. This allows the amplifier to be configured for full-range speakers, high-pass speakers, low-pass use, or a mixed speaker-and-subwoofer system.
The extruded aluminum chassis uses rounded corners and passive convection cooling rather than an internal fan. Its controls are positioned on the top panel beneath a satin-finished aluminum cover for access after installation. A full-range pre-out supports adding another amplifier, while the optional VCR-S2 remote control can adjust the B-channel level for systems using that channel section for bass.
Key Features
- Four-Channel Class D Output: Delivers 130 W RMS x 4 at 4 ohms or 220 W RMS x 4 at 2 ohms.
- Bridgeable Channel Pairs: Supports two-channel operation at 450 W RMS x 2 into 4 ohms.
- High- And Low-Level Inputs: Connects to factory speaker outputs or RCA-equipped aftermarket sources.
- Adjustable Crossovers: Configures front and rear channels for full-range, high-pass, or low-pass operation.
- ART Remote Turn-On: Selectable automatic turn-on works from compatible speaker-level input signals.
- Compact Fanless Chassis: Extruded aluminum construction uses passive convection cooling without an internal fan.
Design & Installation
The SR4-500 uses an extruded aluminum enclosure with rounded corners, a top-mounted control section, and heat sinks on the short sides. Its maximum dimensions are 264 x 155 x 47.5 mm, allowing installation where a larger traditional amplifier may be difficult to place. Passive cooling avoids the noise and dust accumulation associated with internal cooling fans.
Use RCA Pre-In connections with an aftermarket receiver or processor, or use the Speaker-In connections when retaining a compatible factory head unit. Match speaker impedance to the selected configuration: the amplifier supports 2 ohms per channel in four-channel mode and requires 4 ohms for bridged pairs. For a front-plus-subwoofer layout, channels can be configured in three-channel mode, and the B-channel bass boost and optional VCR-S2 control can be used where appropriate.

Can this amplifier work with a factory radio?
Yes. The SR4-500 has balanced Speaker-In inputs for factory speaker-level outputs and a built-in Universal Speaker Simulator. Its selectable ART function can provide automatic turn-on from compatible BTL speaker outputs.
Can I bridge the SR4-500 for more power?
Yes. Each channel pair is bridgeable. In two-channel mode it is rated for 450 W RMS x 2 into 4 ohms, and bridged operation requires a 4-ohm load.
Can it power speakers and a subwoofer together?
Yes. Its three-channel ratings include 120 W RMS x 2 at 4 ohms plus 480 W RMS x 1 at 4 ohms. It can also deliver 220 W RMS x 2 at 2 ohms plus 440 W RMS x 1 at 4 ohms.
What source connections does it accept?
The amplifier accepts RCA Pre-In and speaker-level Speaker-In signals. It also provides a full-range pre-out from Input A for system expansion.
Is a bass level remote included?
The VCR-S2 is identified by Audison as an optional accessory, not a confirmed included item. It can adjust the B-channel level from -20 dB to +6 dB.
What power wiring protection does it use?
The published power specification calls for two 25 A fuses. The amplifier operates from a nominal 11 to 15 VDC vehicle electrical supply.
