Audison AF M4D 4-Channel Class D Amplifier

The Audison AF M4D is a four-channel Class D car amplifier designed to add clean, substantial power to a processor-based audio system. It delivers 160 watts RMS to each of four 4-ohm channels, making it suitable for actively powered front stages, component speakers, or front-and-rear speaker systems. Its compact footprint helps bring higher-output amplification to installations where available mounting space is limited.

This amplifier is intended for enthusiasts building a system around an Audison Forza AF bit amplifier or a standalone signal processor. Its straight-wire architecture omits onboard analog crossover controls, allowing the external processor to manage crossover points, equalization, time alignment, and routing. That approach makes the AF M4D especially appropriate for precisely tuned active systems.

At 2 ohms, the AF M4D provides 260 watts RMS per channel, while each channel pair can be bridged to supply 520 watts RMS at 4 ohms. This gives installers flexibility to power four speakers individually or use two bridged channels for higher-power applications. Minimum impedance is 2 ohms in four-channel operation and 4 ohms when bridged.

Audison D-Class technology uses higher switching frequency operation and a fourth-order analog low-pass filter design. The amplifier has a 10 Hz to 42 kHz bandwidth and is specified for Hi-Res compatibility through its extended high-frequency response. With 83% efficiency, it is engineered to deliver its rated output while managing power use in a compact amplifier format.

Both low-level preamp and high-level speaker inputs are provided for integration with aftermarket or factory audio sources. The high-level input section includes Audison Universal Speaker Simulator technology for compatibility with OEM head units. A supplied signal-input harness supports connection with compatible AF bit amplifiers, while an optional AF Link cable can connect AF bit DSP outputs to the amplifier's pre-in inputs.

The AF M4D uses a compact Class D amplifier chassis measuring 240 x 156 x 47 mm and weighing 2.04 kg. Its design centers on externally managed signal processing rather than onboard analog filters. The amplifier includes two 30-amp fuses and is specified for 83% efficiency.

Use the pre-in connection with an aftermarket source or DSP pre-outs, or use the speaker-in connection when retaining a factory head unit. Plan the system with an external processor when crossover filtering, equalization, or time alignment is needed, because the AF M4D does not include an adjustable crossover. For bridged use, connect only a 4-ohm load to channel pairs 1/2 or 3/4 and follow the manufacturer's wiring guidance.
