The Rockford Fosgate Punch PM500X2 is a 2-channel marine and motorsports amplifier designed to add substantial power without requiring a large installation footprint. It delivers 150 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms, 250 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms, or 500 watts RMS when bridged into a 4-ohm load. Its flexible output configuration makes it suitable for powering speakers, component systems, or a compatible subwoofer setup.

This amplifier is intended for boats, motorcycles, ATVs, and other systems exposed to changing weather and demanding operating conditions. Its marine-grade two-part epoxy-coated circuit board, stainless-steel hardware, and Element Ready protection help support use around moisture, vibration, UV exposure, dust, and temperature changes. The compact chassis helps preserve available installation space.

The PM500X2 uses a Class A/B output stage for a controlled, full-range sound character with high dynamic power. Its variable high-pass, low-pass, and all-pass crossover options allow the amplifier to be configured for full-range speakers or bass-focused duties. On-board Punch EQ2 provides selectable bass or treble adjustment according to crossover mode.

Rockford Fosgate C.L.E.A.N. setup technology helps simplify gain adjustment with input and output clip indicators. The lighting system gives installers a visual reference while setting source volume and amplifier level, helping identify clipping during setup. An optional PLC2 Punch Level Control can provide remote level adjustment and remote input-clip indication.

For system integration, the PM500X2 accepts either high-level or low-level input signals and includes an auto turn-on circuit for high-level connections. RCA pass-thru outputs can send signal onward to another amplifier without requiring a separate splitter. Captive C-clamp terminals accommodate substantial power and speaker wiring for a secure installation.

Design & Installation

The PM500X2 uses a cast aluminum heatsink with convection cooling, a marine-grade epoxy-coated PCB, and marine-grade stainless-steel hardware. Its stealth top-mounted control panel keeps primary adjustments accessible while maintaining a clean installation appearance. Protection features include short-circuit and over-current protection, along with muted turn-on operation.

Use 4 AWG power wiring and protect the power connection with the recommended 80-amp fuse, installed near the battery. The amplifier is rated for 2-ohm stereo operation or 4-ohm bridged operation; match connected speakers and wiring accordingly. Configure the crossover and gain controls during installation, then connect the optional PLC2 only after output clip adjustment if remote level control is desired.
