The Crunch GP-1000.2 is a two-channel car audio amplifier designed to add external amplification to a vehicle sound system. It can power a pair of speakers in stereo or drive a compatible subwoofer through its bridged mono configuration. This flexibility makes it suitable for focused speaker upgrades, bass additions, or mixed system layouts.

Crunch lists output ratings of 2 x 500 watts at 2 ohms, 2 x 250 watts at 4 ohms, and 1 x 1,000 watts bridged at 4 ohms. The amplifier can operate in stereo, bridged mono, or stereo/bridged mono simultaneously. Its Class A/B topology is intended for systems that prioritize conventional full-range amplification and installation versatility.

A variable electronic crossover with a 12 dB-per-octave slope helps tailor the amplified signal to the speakers being used. Selectable full-range, high-pass, and low-pass crossover modes support common speaker and subwoofer applications. A built-in bass control and switchable bass boost settings provide additional low-frequency adjustment.

The GP-1000.2 accepts low-level RCA input and high-level speaker input, allowing it to work with many aftermarket or factory-source systems. Its low-noise preamplifier circuit is designed to process incoming source signals before amplification. RCA output connections can also pass signal to a second amplifier in an expanded system.

Crunch equips this model with SPEED-FET MOSFET output devices, a pulse-width-modulated power supply, and a QTD aluminum heat sink. Nickel-plated brass terminals and screw-down connections support secure wiring connections. LED protection diagnostics provide visible indication of overload and speaker-short protection events.

Design & Installation

The GP-1000.2 uses a black and red chassis with a QTD aluminum heat sink for thermal management. Its Class A/B circuit design includes SPEED-FET MOSFET output technology and a pulse-width-modulated power supply. Nickel-plated brass terminals and screw-down connectors are used for the power and speaker connections.

Mount the amplifier securely in a location with adequate ventilation and do not install it upside down. The installation guide specifies 4 AWG power and ground cable connections, 12 AWG speaker-terminal wiring, and a 20A fuse; the battery-side power cable must be fused within 18 inches of the battery. Set the input level from minimum and use the crossover mode and frequency controls to match the connected speakers or subwoofer.
