The Cerwin-Vega SM8F4 is an 8-inch, 2-way coaxial speaker pair designed for marine, motorcycle, and powersports audio installations. Its flush-mount format helps provide a clean installation where larger, weather-conscious speakers are needed. Each speaker combines an 8-inch woofer with a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter for broad-frequency playback from a single mounting location.

Rated at 150 watts RMS and 300 watts maximum per speaker, the SM8F4 is intended for systems using an external amplifier or a capable marine/powersports source unit. The 4-ohm nominal impedance supports common mobile-audio amplifier configurations. With 93 dB sensitivity, these speakers are suited to installations that need useful output from moderate amplifier power.

The speaker uses a waterproof composite paper cone with a treated-cloth surround to support use around water, sun, and changing outdoor conditions. Its high-temperature injection-molded composite basket provides a durable mounting structure. Water-spray and salt-water resistance, along with UV-stable materials, make it appropriate for exposed installations when mounted correctly.

A 1-inch titanium dome tweeter is integrated into the coaxial design to reproduce upper-frequency detail without requiring a separate tweeter location. The stated 55 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response gives the system coverage through bass, midrange, and treble, although a dedicated subwoofer can extend deep-bass capability. A ferrite magnet motor structure and Max X-max suspension support the woofer's controlled excursion.

Integrated RGB LED lighting allows the SM8F4 to add visual accent lighting to compatible installations. Lighting control requires the separately sold Cerwin-Vega RPMDLED controller. For a complete marine or powersports system, pair the speakers with an appropriately rated 4-ohm amplifier, suitable marine-grade wiring, and optional grilles where added driver protection is desired.

The SM8F4 uses a molded, UV-coated waterproof composite paper cone, treated-cloth surround, ferrite magnet motor structure, and high-temperature injection-molded composite basket. Its materials are specified as water-spray and salt-water resistant and 100% UV stable. The flush-mount layout keeps the speaker profile integrated with the mounting surface.

Verify that the installation location provides at least 3.15 inches of mounting depth and a 7.13-inch cutout before purchase. Use an amplifier stable at 4 ohms and match power sensibly to the 150-watt RMS rating per speaker. RGB lighting is integrated, but the compatible RPMDLED LED controller is sold separately; optional grilles are also available separately.
