The Rockford Fosgate M2WL-8HB is a pair of black 8-inch, horn-loaded wake tower speakers designed for marine and powersports sound systems. They provide amplified music projection for boat towers where engine noise, wind, and open-water listening conditions can make conventional speakers difficult to hear. Each enclosure combines a full-range woofer with an integrated horn tweeter in a sealed wake-can design.

Built for listeners who want clear, high-output sound beyond the boat, these 4-ohm speakers handle up to 300 watts RMS each. Their horn-loaded 1-inch tweeters are intended to support strong high-frequency projection, while the 8-inch woofers cover low and midrange content. The specified 35 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response and 94 dB sensitivity support use in performance-focused marine systems.

Color Optix RGB lighting adds customizable visual integration for compatible Rockford Fosgate marine systems. The speakers connect to a compatible Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app for lighting control; the PMX-RGB controller is sold separately. A rotating rear RGB medallion helps keep the illuminated logo properly oriented after mounting.

The M2WL-8HB is designed for boats with wake towers or similar tubular structures. Included universal clamps fit tower bars from 1.5 to 3 inches in diameter and allow 360-degree speaker rotation for aiming. Direct-mount installation is also supported when a clamp installation is not preferred.

Marine-oriented construction helps the pair suit freshwater and saltwater applications. The speakers carry an IPX6 water-intrusion rating, use UV-stable materials, and feature protected Deutsch/Amphenol-style connection points. Stainless steel grilles come installed, and black sport grilles are included for an alternate appearance.

Design & Installation

The black wake cans use a sealed enclosure format with UV-stable ASA components, an injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene woofer cone, and a thermoplastic elastomer surround. Rockford Fosgate's VAST surround design increases effective radiating cone area, while the stainless steel grille provides a marine-appropriate exterior finish. The rear logo medallion can rotate after installation to maintain its orientation.

Use the included clamps and rubber inserts for wake tower tubing between 1.5 and 3 inches in diameter, or use the direct-mount option where appropriate. The two supplied 6-pin speaker/RGB harnesses support either through-clamp wiring or an external rear connection point, and unused ports should remain covered. Pair the speakers with amplification appropriate for their 4-ohm, 300-watt RMS rating, and add a compatible PMX-RGB Color Optix controller when RGB lighting control is desired.
