JBL MT8HLB 8" Marine Tower Speakers With RGB Lighting

The JBL MT8HLB is a pair of enclosed 8-inch, two-way marine tower speakers designed for wake towers and other marine audio installations. It provides elevated sound placement for boaters who want music directed toward riders as well as passengers. Each speaker combines an 8-inch woofer with a horn-loaded compression tweeter in a purpose-built tower enclosure.

This system is suited to boats with a compatible horizontal tower bar measuring 1.75 to 3 inches in diameter. Its adjustable mounting design allows the speakers to be aimed toward the preferred listening area. The enclosed format helps create a clean, integrated tower-speaker installation without requiring a separate speaker enclosure.

For performance, the MT8HLB is rated for 150 watts RMS and 450 watts peak power handling per speaker, with a 4-ohm nominal impedance. Its 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and treble duties for a full-range marine speaker setup. A 92 dB sensitivity rating at 2.83V supports strong output with a properly matched marine amplifier.

JBL uses an 8-inch long-throw polypropylene woofer cone with a rubber surround, paired with a 1-inch titanium horn-loaded compression tweeter. The angled-baffle design is intended to direct sound toward the rider's listening position instead of the water behind the boat. This makes the speaker well suited for wakeboarding and other tow-sports applications.

Integrated RGB LED lighting adds visual customization after dark. The lighting can be hardwired for one of seven color options or connected to a compatible RGB lighting controller. The MT8HLB can be used as a dedicated tower-speaker pair in a marine system with a compatible amplifier, source unit, wiring, and 12-volt lighting connection.

Design & Installation

The MT8HLB uses a black-gloss enclosed speaker body with marine-rated materials and components. Its rigid polypropylene woofer cone, rubber surround, titanium horn tweeter, and integrated RGB lighting are housed in a tower-oriented design. JBL also includes neoprene covers for protecting the speakers when they are not in use.

Mount each speaker to a compatible horizontal wake-tower bar using the supplied two-piece bracket assemblies, rubber pads, bolts, and hex keys. Route speaker and LED wiring through the bracket and tower bar where practical to reduce exposed wire, then use the included safety cables while positioning the speakers. The RGB leads require a compatible 12-volt source or separately sold lighting controller, while speaker wiring should connect to a properly matched 4-ohm marine amplifier channel.
