Rockford Fosgate M2WL-8B 8" Black Wake Tower Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2WL-8B is a pair of 8-inch, 2-way marine wake tower speakers housed in black wake cans. It is designed for boat owners who want elevated speaker placement and sound projection beyond the cockpit. Each can combines a coaxial speaker, integrated RGB lighting, and an adjustable tower-mounting arrangement.

With 250 watts RMS and 1,000 watts peak power handling per speaker, the M2WL-8B is intended for use with a properly matched marine amplifier. Its 4-ohm design and 93.1 dB sensitivity support strong output from an amplified system. The integrated 1-inch tweeter extends high-frequency detail while the 8-inch woofer handles the main musical range.

Color Optix lighting is built into the wake cans for coordinated illumination within a compatible Rockford Fosgate marine system. A separately sold PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and the RF Connect app are required for lighting control. The integrated speaker and RGB harness arrangement helps keep the installation organized when wiring is routed through a tower bar.

The M2WL-8B is built for exposed marine use with Rockford Fosgate Element Ready construction and an IPX6 water-intrusion rating. Its design addresses UV exposure, water, corrosion, dust, and vibration associated with marine environments. The vented motor uses a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen as part of its weather-focused design.

For a complete system, these wake cans can be paired with a marine head unit, external amplifier, Color Optix lighting controller, and compatible Rockford Fosgate marine subwoofers. The supplied universal clamps support tower-bar diameters from 1.5 to 3 inches using the included rubber inserts. Stainless and sport grille options allow the appearance to be tailored to the boat.

Design & Installation

These black wake cans use an integrated 8-inch M2 marine coaxial speaker with a 1-inch tweeter, dual neodymium tweeter motor, high-temperature Kapton woofer voice-coil former, and laminated PXNX dome tweeter. Stainless mounting hardware is included, along with installed stainless grilles and alternate sport grilles. The can measures 9 inches overall in diameter, 12.75 inches high, and 14.4 inches long.

Install the pair with the supplied universal clamps or through-bolt mounting method, confirming clearance for full speaker rotation before tightening hardware. The supplied harness combines speaker and RGB connections; its speaker leads use 18 AWG conductors, while RGB-related leads use 22 AWG conductors. For Color Optix control, add a compatible PMX-RGB controller and configure lighting through the RF Connect app; the controller is sold separately.
