Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 2.7" Marine Media Receiver

The Rockford Fosgate PMX-3 is a compact digital media receiver designed for marine and motorsports audio systems. It brings AM/FM, weather-band radio, Bluetooth streaming, USB playback, AUX connectivity, Pandora control, and SiriusXM readiness to dashboards where a conventional DIN radio may not fit. Its gauge-style form fits a 3-inch round mounting opening for boats, ATVs, UTVs, and similar applications.

This receiver is intended for riders and boaters who need direct control of music and radio sources in exposed environments. The 2.7-inch color TFT display provides a clear central interface, while the physical controls support quick adjustments during use. A built-in voltage gauge is also available through the unit settings.

The PMX-3 has a four-channel internal amplifier rated at 25 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms, with 2-ohm-stable operation. It can directly power compatible speakers, or its RCA outputs can feed external amplifiers for a larger system. The rear RCA outputs can be configured as rear line outputs or as a subwoofer output.

Sound shaping includes a 7-band equalizer, selectable crossover settings for front, rear, and subwoofer zones, and Rockford Fosgate Punch EQ adjustment. Independent subwoofer level buttons provide convenient bass-level adjustment from the receiver face. Source-gain adjustment helps align the listening level of connected sources.

The PMX-3 is built for applications where water exposure and vibration are practical concerns. It carries an IPX6 water-intrusion rating and is part of Rockford Fosgate's Element Ready line for marine and motorsports use. The receiver can serve as a compact system hub with wired remote compatibility, camera input, and a choice of direct speaker or external-amplifier integration.

Design & Installation

The PMX-3 uses a compact gauge-style chassis with a trim bezel, rotary encoder, backlit controls, and a 2.7-inch color TFT display. Its IPX6-rated construction is intended for water exposure from powerful jets, while Element Ready protection addresses the demands of marine and motorsports installations. The receiver is designed for a single-zone system with front and rear or front and subwoofer output configuration.

Installation requires a 3-inch (77 mm) circular cutout and adequate clearance behind the mounting surface for the chassis, wiring harness, and connected cables. The receiver includes a power/speaker harness and can be mounted using the supplied mounting plate or U-bracket arrangement. Use the internal amplifier for direct speaker operation, or switch it off when the system is powered entirely by external amplifiers.
