Rockford Fosgate M2WL-8H 8" Horn-Loaded Wake Tower Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2WL-8H is a pair of white, 8-inch horn-loaded wake tower speakers designed for marine audio systems. Their enclosed wake-can format provides a ready-to-mount solution for boats with compatible tower bars. Each speaker combines an 8-inch driver with a 1-inch high-efficiency horn tweeter for high-output full-range playback. Integrated RGB lighting adds a customizable visual element to an on-water sound system.

This pair is intended for boat owners who need sound to project beyond the cockpit and remain clear in open-air conditions. With 300 watts RMS power handling per speaker and 94 dB sensitivity at 2.83V/1m, the M2WL-8H is suited to amplified marine systems. The horn tweeter is engineered to support prominent high-frequency output, while the 8-inch driver covers low and midrange frequencies. A 4-ohm nominal impedance makes matching to compatible marine amplifiers straightforward.

Color Optix lighting is built into the speaker system, including a rear RGB-lighted medallion. When paired with the optional Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller, the lighting can be managed through the RF Connect App. The speakers use integrated RGB and speaker connections for a cleaner installation. The rear medallion can also be rotated to maintain proper alignment after mounting.

The M2WL-8H is made for exposure common to marine environments. Its Element Ready design includes IPX6 water-intrusion protection, UV-stable ASA plastic frame and grille components, and stainless-steel grille hardware. The loaded enclosure uses high-density ASA construction. These details support use on boats where water spray, sun exposure, and vibration are routine concerns.

For system expansion, the M2WL-8H can be combined with a compatible marine amplifier, a Color Optix lighting controller, and other Rockford Fosgate M2 speakers or subwoofers. Universal clamps support tower bars from 1.5 to 3 inches in diameter and allow 360-degree adjustment. The enclosure can also be direct-mounted when the clamp route is not preferred. Stainless-steel grilles are preinstalled, and white sport grilles are included for a different appearance.

Design & Installation

The M2WL-8H uses a white high-density ASA loaded enclosure, UV-stable ASA frame and grille construction, and stainless-steel grille hardware. Its integrated 1-inch horn tweeter is mounted with the 8-inch speaker in a sealed wake-can assembly. The rear RGB medallion is adjustable for visual alignment, while the enclosure can be aimed and secured with the included safety Torx hardware.

Use the supplied universal clamps and rubber inserts for compatible 1.5- to 3-inch-diameter tower bars, or use the rear speaker/RGB input for direct-mount applications. Plan wiring before mounting, preserve speaker polarity, and allow enough clearance for full can rotation. The included harnesses carry speaker and RGB connections; RGB control through the RF Connect App requires the separately sold PMX-RGB Color Optix controller.
