Rockford Fosgate M2WL-65MB 6.5" Color Optix Moto-Can Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2WL-65MB is a pair of black 6.5-inch, 2-way Moto-Can speakers built for SXS, UTV, and other powersports applications. Each speaker is housed in a sealed enclosure with a universal clamp for round roll-cage bars. It gives riders a practical way to add externally mounted sound without fabricating separate speaker pods.

These Moto-Cans use 4-ohm M2-series speakers rated at 150 watts RMS and 600 watts peak per speaker. Their 40 Hz to 24 kHz frequency response supports substantial midbass presence along with detailed high frequencies. The coaxial design integrates a 1-inch dome tweeter, helping keep the installation compact.

Color Optix RGB lighting is built into the speakers and rear medallions for coordinated system illumination. A separately sold Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller is required for app-based color and pattern control through the RF Connect app. The lighting system operates from a 9 to 16 VDC supply and has a specified 0.25-amp LED current draw per speaker.

The M2WL-65MB is designed for outdoor exposure, with an Element Ready construction and an IPX6 water-intrusion rating. The sealed high-density ASA enclosures, UV-stable materials, stainless grille option, and protected connector system support installation in exposed powersports environments. Its mineral-filled polypropylene woofer cone includes UV inhibitors, while the VAST surround design increases effective radiating area.

These speakers fit naturally into a Rockford Fosgate motorsports audio system using an external amplifier and compatible RGB lighting controller. Integrated 6-pin Deutsch/Amphenol-style connections combine speaker and lighting wiring in a plug-in harness arrangement. Adjustable mounting and a rotatable illuminated rear badge make it easier to orient the cans cleanly on a cage or bar system.

Design & Installation

Each black Moto-Can uses a sealed high-density ASA enclosure and a 6.5-inch M2 speaker with a mineral-filled polypropylene cone. Stainless-steel grille inserts are preinstalled, and black sport grille inserts are included for a different appearance. The speakers are IPX6-rated and use UV-stable materials, while the rear illuminated medallion can be rotated to suit the final mounting orientation.

Mount the included universal clamps to 1- to 2-inch round bars, checking clearance for speaker movement before tightening the rotation lock. The included 6-pin harnesses provide 18 AWG speaker wiring and 22 AWG lighting wiring; connect the lighting circuit to a properly fused 9-16 VDC source. An external amplifier supplies audio power, while a separately sold PMX-RGB controller is needed for RF Connect app-based RGB control.
