The Rockford Fosgate M1-65 is a pair of white 6.5-inch, 2-way coaxial marine speakers designed for boats, powersports vehicles, and other outdoor audio installations. They provide a full-range speaker upgrade where standard car speakers may not withstand UV exposure, moisture, and changing weather conditions. Each speaker combines a woofer and grille-integrated tweeter in one flush-mount assembly.

With 75 watts RMS power handling per speaker, 4-ohm impedance, and a 38 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response, the M1-65 is suited to systems that need clear, wide-range sound from a compact marine speaker. The 1-inch LCP balanced-dome tweeter handles upper-frequency detail while the 6.5-inch woofer supports the midrange and midbass range. An integrated concealed crossover network manages the transition between the woofer and tweeter.

Color Optix RGB lighting adds customizable illumination to the installation. The speakers work with the separately sold Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and RF Connect app for selectable lighting patterns. Integrated Deutsch and Amphenol connections are designed to simplify compatible speaker and lighting connections within a Color Optix system.

The M1-65 uses Element Ready construction and carries an IP67 rating for demanding marine and motorsports environments. Its UV-stable ASA frame and grille, sealed motor structure, marine-grade brass terminals, and weather-oriented materials are intended to support exposed installations. The white finish complements many marine interiors, consoles, and exterior panels.

Design & Installation

The M1-65 uses a mineral-filled polypropylene cone body with a co-molded Santoprene VAST surround, a linear synthetic-fiber-blend spider, and a high-temperature Kapton woofer voice-coil former. Its 1-inch LCP balanced-dome tweeter is integrated into the grille. The frame and grille are made from 100% UV-stable ASA plastic, while the connection terminals are zinc-nickel-plated marine-grade brass.

Verify the available mounting surface before installation: each speaker requires a 5.36-inch cutout and 2.52 inches of mounting depth. The speakers use a six-hole mounting pattern on a 6.12-inch bolt circle, with stainless-steel mounting hardware specified. Connect the audio section to a suitable 4-ohm amplifier or source, and use the separately sold PMX-RGB controller for app-controlled Color Optix lighting; when hardwiring lighting, use a fused 12-volt supply and at least 20-gauge wire.
