The Rockford Fosgate M2D4-12SB is a 12-inch marine subwoofer built for installations that need substantial bass while working within the space limits of a compact sealed enclosure. Color Optix RGB LED lighting adds adjustable visual integration to a compatible Rockford Fosgate lighting system. The subwoofer connects to the separately sold PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and works with the RF Connect app for color and pattern customization. An included Color Optix harness supports the lighting connection at the speaker location.

The M2D4-12SB uses Rockford Fosgate's VersaSwitch system, allowing the subwoofer to be set for either a 2-ohm or 8-ohm nominal impedance configuration. This gives installers a direct way to match the subwoofer to an amplifier's approved load range without conventional series or parallel voice-coil wiring. Standard speaker connections are also available through 1/8-inch spade terminals.

For outdoor service, the M2D4-12SB carries an IP67 certification and Rockford Fosgate's Element Ready design approach. Design & Installation

The M2D4-12SB uses a dual voice coil with a 1.95-inch diameter coil, a 61.09-ounce magnet, and 15 mm of Xmax. It includes a grille and trim ring, with stainless-steel and black Sport grille insert options. The lighting and speaker connections use marine-oriented Deutsch and Amphenol connectivity, while conventional 1/8-inch spade terminals are also provided.

Plan this subwoofer around a sealed enclosure with a recommended 0.75 cubic-foot volume, an 11-inch cutout, and at least 4.87 inches of mounting depth behind the mounting surface. Use the VersaSwitch setting that matches an amplifier's approved impedance range, and verify amplifier configuration before connecting the subwoofer.
