Mogami GOLD STUDIO-10 10' XLR Microphone Cable $87.95
Bundle total: $257.94

The PreSonus AUDIOBOX 96 STUDIO is a complete computer-recording package built around a compact 2x2 USB audio and MIDI interface. It provides a practical starting point for recording vocals, instruments, podcasts, demos, and other two-channel projects without sourcing each core component separately. The bundle includes the AudioBox USB 96 interface, an M7 condenser microphone, HD7 monitoring headphones, recording software, and essential accessories.

Two front-panel combo microphone/instrument inputs let a singer-songwriter track voice and guitar at the same time or let two performers record independently. Class A microphone preamps and switchable 48V phantom power support the included condenser microphone. The interface records and plays back at up to 24-bit/96 kHz resolution for detailed capture in a desktop or mobile recording setup.

The M7 cardioid condenser microphone is intended for close vocal work and acoustic instruments, helping focus pickup toward the source in front of the mic. Its large-diaphragm design is paired with the AudioBox USB 96's phantom-power supply, so no separate microphone power supply is required. An included XLR cable and desktop mic stand support a straightforward first-session setup.

HD7 headphones provide a semi-open monitoring design with 50 mm neodymium drivers. Their extended 10 Hz to 30 kHz frequency response helps users hear low-frequency content, midrange detail, and treble while tracking or editing. Using headphones also allows monitoring and mixing when loudspeakers are not practical.

The AudioBox USB 96 uses an analog Mix control to balance direct input sound against computer playback, allowing monitoring without software-monitoring delay. Balanced main outputs can connect powered studio monitors, while MIDI In and Out support external controllers, synths, and drum machines. Studio One Artist and the Studio Magic Suite expand the package into a recording workspace that can grow with additional microphones, monitors, instruments, and MIDI gear.

Key Features

  • 2x2 USB Interface: Records two input channels and plays back through two output channels.
  • 24-Bit/96 kHz Audio: Supports high-resolution recording and playback sample rates.
  • Dual Combo Inputs: Connect microphones, guitars, basses, or other instrument-level sources.
  • M7 Condenser Microphone: Cardioid mic is supplied for vocals and acoustic instruments.
  • HD7 Monitoring Headphones: Semi-open headphones enable private tracking and mix checking.
  • Direct Mix Monitoring: Blends live inputs with computer playback without software latency.

Design & Installation

The AudioBox USB 96 uses a compact steel chassis with a matte-black 25th Anniversary finish and a 1/3U rack-mountable form factor. Front-panel gain controls, headphone level, main level, Mix control, instrument inputs, and status indicators keep routine recording adjustments within reach. The M7 microphone uses a cardioid pickup pattern, while the lightweight HD7 headphones use durable ear pads and a 50 mm neodymium driver design.

Connect the interface to a compatible computer through USB, then attach the M7 by XLR and enable 48V phantom power when using that microphone. Plug the HD7 headphones into the 1/4-inch headphone output, or connect powered monitors to the balanced 1/4-inch main outputs. For instrument and MIDI workflows, connect guitars or basses to the front-panel instrument inputs and use the rear-panel MIDI ports for compatible external MIDI equipment.
