The Pioneer TS-A30S4 is a 12-inch passive component subwoofer designed to add dedicated low-frequency output to a car audio system. It provides the low-end foundation while the main speakers handle midrange and high-frequency detail. An amplifier with appropriate crossover settings helps direct bass frequencies to the subwoofer.

Installation flexibility comes from support for sealed or vented enclosures. Pioneer specifies a 1.25 cubic foot sealed enclosure or a 1.5 cubic foot vented enclosure, allowing the system to be tailored for available space and enclosure preference. Design & Installation

The TS-A30S4 combines a glass-fiber and mica-reinforced IMPP cone with a ferrite magnet, elastic polymer/butyl-rubber surround, and polycotton spider. Its single voice coil uses an aluminum bobbin, while push terminals provide the speaker-wire connection. The driver has a 318 mm outside diameter and a 281 mm cutout requirement.

Plan for a 136 mm mounting depth behind the mounting surface and use the supplied gasket when installing the driver. A sealed enclosure of 35.4 L (1.25 cu. ft.) or a vented enclosure of 42.5 L (1.5 cu. ft.) is recommended. Use an external amplifier compatible with a 4-ohm load, set gain carefully, and apply a suitable low-pass crossover for subwoofer duty.
