Memphis SMC3 Multi-Zone Marine Media Center

The Memphis SMC3 is a marine-grade multi-zone media center designed to bring radio, Bluetooth streaming, USB, AUX, and camera connectivity into boats and powersports vehicles. It provides a centralized interface for music playback, radio listening, and system control where a conventional in-dash receiver may not be suitable. Its compact gauge-style mounting format supports installations that need a weather-resistant control center.

The built-in four-channel amplifier is rated at 50 watts by 4 channels, allowing compatible speakers to be powered directly from the unit. Four pairs of RCA pre-outs also support expansion with external front, rear, subwoofer, and Zone 2 amplification. Independent subwoofer and secondary-zone level control help tailor output for separate listening areas.

A 3-inch wet-bonded color TFT LCD provides source and system information, with automatic dimming and day/night viewing modes. The SMC3 includes AM/FM radio with 18 FM presets and 12 AM presets for convenient access to stored stations. Bluetooth is automatically discoverable when its Bluetooth source is selected, allowing a compatible device to pair as “SMC3.”

The media center includes a video input and a camera-trigger input for connecting a compatible backup or trail camera. A dedicated camera control is provided on the front panel, allowing the camera source to be selected from the receiver. This makes the SMC3 suitable for systems that combine entertainment and added visibility in marine or off-road applications.

For system upgrades, the SMC3 includes 5-volt RCA pre-outs for front, rear, subwoofer, and Zone 2 signal routing. It also provides a wired-remote input for an optional compatible remote control. With IP66 water resistance and EEPROM memory, it is designed for installations exposed to the elements and regular vehicle use.

Design & Installation

The SMC3 uses a marine-grade, IP66-rated design with a 3-inch wet-bonded color TFT display. Its face measures approximately 5.51 by 3.54 inches, while the specified mounting depth is 3.94 inches before allowing additional room for wiring. EEPROM memory retains stored settings, and the display includes automatic dimming with day/night modes.

Installation requires a 3-inch (76.2 mm) mounting hole and the supplied metal mounting bracket; the bracket includes breakaway sections for fitment. Connect the red wire to 12V ignition, yellow to constant battery power, black to ground, and blue to remote turn-on as appropriate for the system. Confirm safe mounting clearance, test all wiring before final mounting, and allow extra rear clearance for the connected harnesses and cables.
