The Memphis PRXL12FT is a 12-inch Power Reference subwoofer designed for vehicle audio systems that need a flexible low-frequency driver. The integrated RGB LED cone accent adds visual customization to installations where appearance matters alongside sound.

Rated for 400 watts RMS and 800 watts peak power, the PRXL12FT is intended for a dedicated subwoofer amplifier matched appropriately to the selected load. Its 12-inch format is suited to systems seeking fuller low-frequency response than smaller subwoofer sizes. The selectable 1-ohm, 2-ohm, or 4-ohm configuration supports different amplifier and multi-subwoofer system plans.

Memphis FLEX Triple Voice Coil Technology uses a jumper plug to choose the operating impedance. This lets the installer configure the subwoofer for the amplifier being used rather than committing to one fixed nominal impedance. The setting should be selected before system power is applied and matched to an amplifier rated for that load.

Direct Voice Coil Cooling technology is incorporated to support thermal management during extended listening. A 2-inch voice coil with a high-temperature TIL former, reinforced spider, improved suspension, and woven tinsel leads support the subwoofer's working assembly. These construction details are paired with a 63-ounce magnet structure.

The PRXL12FT uses a black-on-black polypropylene cone and stitched butyl rubber surround for a clean, durable appearance. Its RGB LED accent ring requires hardwiring to a 12-volt source, or it can be used with the separately sold Memphis MXRGBBTC RGB controller. With a 5.5-inch mounting depth and 11-inch cutout requirement, it is intended for compatible custom enclosures and baffles.

Design & Installation

The PRXL12FT combines a black-on-black polypropylene cone with a stitched butyl rubber surround, reinforced spider, improved suspension and coil design, woven tinsel leads, and a high-temperature TIL voice-coil former. Its 63-ounce magnet and 2-inch voice coil are part of the Power Reference subwoofer design. The illuminated cone accent distinguishes this model from the non-LED PRX12FT.

Confirm that the enclosure provides at least the required 5.5-inch mounting depth and an 11-inch cutout before installation. Set the included jumper-style impedance selector to 1 ohm, 2 ohms, or 4 ohms before connecting the amplifier, and verify amplifier stability at that load. Wire the RGB lighting to a 12-volt source or use the separately sold Memphis MXRGBBTC controller; the optional Memphis PRXG12 grille may be used for added driver protection.
