The Memphis PRX824V2 is an 8-inch car audio subwoofer for systems that need added low-frequency output without requiring a large driver. It is suited to compact custom enclosures and factory-subwoofer replacement projects where mounting space is limited. Its 200-watt RMS power rating makes it appropriate for amplification matched to its continuous power capability.

A FLEX selectable-impedance terminal lets the installer configure the woofer for either 2-ohm or 4-ohm operation. This provides flexibility when matching an amplifier or planning a later move to a multi-subwoofer system. The impedance selection is made at the subwoofer using the Memphis FLEX plug terminal.

The PRX824V2 uses a black polypropylene cone and stitched butyl-rubber surround to support controlled cone movement. A reinforced spider, woven tinsel leads, and an improved suspension and coil design are part of its construction. Its 84 dB sensitivity rating is specified at both selectable impedance settings.

Memphis DVVC Direct Voice Coil Cooling technology is designed to help manage voice-coil heat during use. The subwoofer also uses a 1.5-inch high-temperature voice-coil former. These features support dependable operation when the woofer is installed and powered within its published ratings.

For enclosure planning, Memphis specifies 0.45 cubic feet sealed for one subwoofer or 0.70 cubic feet vented for one subwoofer. Design & Installation

The PRX824V2 combines a black-on-black polypropylene cone with a stitched butyl-rubber surround, reinforced spider, woven tinsel leads, and a single-stacked ferrite motor structure. Its 1.5-inch high-temperature copper voice coil uses a high-temperature TIL former. The driver has a 33-ounce magnet and an 8.63-inch outside frame diameter.

Confirm that the installation location accepts the 6.92-inch cutout, 8.63-inch frame diameter, and 3.89-inch mounting depth before cutting a panel or choosing an enclosure. Set the FLEX plug for the intended 2-ohm or 4-ohm load before connecting speaker wire, and use an amplifier whose stable load and RMS output are appropriate for the selected configuration. Memphis publishes sealed and vented enclosure recommendations for both single- and dual-subwoofer systems.
