The Kenwood KSC-PSW7EQ is a compact powered subwoofer designed to add low-frequency support where a conventional subwoofer enclosure would take up too much room. Its slim enclosure can fit in tight vehicle spaces such as beneath a seat or behind a panel. It is a practical upgrade for drivers who want fuller bass while retaining usable cargo space.

This all-in-one subwoofer combines an oval 8-1/4 x 5-1/2 inch woofer with an integrated Class-D amplifier. The 160-watt maximum-output system is intended to provide controlled bass reinforcement rather than requiring a separate enclosure and external amplifier. Its 40 Hz to 200 Hz frequency response supports the lower range that smaller factory speakers often cannot reproduce.

An aluminum diaphragm and urethane surround are used in the woofer system. Kenwood's micro-step diaphragm shaping is designed to help control unwanted diaphragm movement during operation. The result is a compact bass solution with a focused, adjustable low-end character.

The wired remote controller gives the driver access to gain, low-pass frequency, phase, and Active EQ settings from the cabin. Three Active EQ modes—Heavy, Tight, and Flat—allow the bass response to be tailored for different music and listening preferences. A variable 50 Hz to 125 Hz low-pass filter helps blend the subwoofer with the vehicle's existing speakers.

The KSC-PSW7EQ supports both RCA line-level and speaker-level connections, making it suitable for many aftermarket and factory-radio systems. Signal-sensing turn-on can activate the unit from either speaker-level or RCA input, and the unit automatically switches between those input types. A supplied wiring harness, wired controller, and mounting hardware support a more complete installation package.

Its 20 x 13 cm aluminum-diaphragm woofer uses a urethane surround, while the integrated Class-D amplifier keeps the package compact. At 5.7 pounds, it is suited to installations where space and weight are important considerations.

Install the unit using the supplied mounting brackets and connect it with either the RCA input or supplied speaker-level input connection. The included harness provides battery, ground, RCA input, remote turn-on, and speaker-level wiring provisions, while the remote controller cable is 5 meters long. Because the installation involves vehicle power wiring and mounting, professional installation is recommended when appropriate.
