The KFC-W3041 can be used in either a sealed or ported enclosure, allowing the installation to be tailored to available vehicle space and system goals. Kenwood specifies a 1.25 cubic-foot sealed enclosure or a 1.50 cubic-foot ported enclosure. A sealed enclosure is a compact option, while the specified ported design uses a larger cabinet with a defined port arrangement.

As a component subwoofer, the KFC-W3041 requires a compatible external amplifier and an enclosure; it is not a self-powered bass solution. Kenwood identifies the KAC-D5101 amplifier as a power-matched companion. It can serve as the bass foundation of a system with an aftermarket receiver, amplifier wiring, and full-range speakers.

Its closed-yoke structure and aluminum bobbin are part of the subwoofer's thermal-management design. The speaker measures 12-13/16 inches wide and deep overall, with a 6-1/8-inch total depth.

Confirm that the enclosure provides an 11-inch cutout and at least 5-3/8 inches of mounting depth before installation. Use a properly matched external amplifier, enclosure, wiring, and crossover setup, while keeping amplifier output appropriate for the 300-watt RMS rating. The optional Kenwood CA-121G grille may be added where cone protection is needed.
