AUDIO360 AD4C 4 Gauge Amplifier Wiring Kit $50.00
Bundle total: $223.86

The JBL Club 122 is a 12-inch car audio subwoofer designed to add dedicated low-frequency output to an aftermarket sound system. It is intended for listeners who want deeper bass than full-range door speakers can produce while keeping amplifier and enclosure choices flexible. With 400 watts RMS power handling, it is suited to a properly matched mono amplifier or subwoofer channel.

Its SSI™ Selectable Smart Impedance switch lets the installer select either a 2-ohm or 4-ohm nominal load. This makes it easier to match the subwoofer to an amplifier's stable power rating and can simplify future system changes. The switchable design is useful for single-subwoofer systems as well as multi-sub installations.

The Club 122 uses a 12-inch polypropylene driver, high-roll rubber surround, and double-stacked magnet structure. These elements support controlled cone movement while handling bass material across its rated 30Hz to 500Hz frequency response. A 2-inch voice coil and vented basket are designed to help manage heat during sustained use.

With an 86dB sensitivity rating at 1W/1m, this subwoofer is built to work with dedicated amplification rather than a factory radio's speaker outputs. Its 400-watt RMS rating should be the primary figure used when selecting an amplifier. Set amplifier gain carefully and use appropriate filtering to protect the subwoofer and maintain clean bass performance.

The Club 122 can be used in sealed or ported enclosures, allowing the system to be tailored for available cargo space and listening preference. Its 11-1/8-inch cutout diameter and 5-1/2-inch mounting depth should be verified against the enclosure before installation. An EVA foam gasket is included to help create a secure seal between the subwoofer and mounting surface.

Key Features

  • SSI™ Selectable Smart Impedance: Choose a 2-ohm or 4-ohm nominal load to suit the connected amplifier.
  • 400W RMS Power Handling: Supports a properly matched amplified bass channel for sustained playback.
  • 12-Inch Polypropylene Driver: Provides dedicated cone area for low-frequency reproduction in vehicle systems.
  • Double-Stacked Magnet: Supports the motor structure required for controlled high-excursion operation.
  • Vented Basket: Promotes airflow around the voice coil to help manage heat during use.
  • High-Roll Rubber Surround: Supports cone travel while providing durable edge suspension.

Design & Installation

The Club 122 combines a polypropylene cone with a rubber surround, 2-inch voice coil, and double-stacked magnet structure. Its vented basket helps with voice-coil cooling, while the large inverted dust cap and press-fit trim-ring design provide a finished installed appearance. The subwoofer is supplied with an EVA foam gasket and owner's manual.

Install the Club 122 in a compatible sealed or ported enclosure with an 11-1/8-inch cutout and at least 5-1/2 inches of mounting clearance. Select the 2-ohm or 4-ohm SSI setting before wiring, then use an amplifier that is stable at the selected load and appropriately rated around the subwoofer's 400W RMS capability. A low-pass crossover and correctly set amplifier gain are recommended for integration with full-range speakers.
