Infinity Reference 123WSL 12" Shallow-Mount Subwoofer

The Infinity Reference 123WSL is a 12-inch shallow-mount component subwoofer built for vehicle audio systems where mounting depth is limited. Its 3-1/4-inch mounting depth helps make it practical for compact custom enclosures and space-conscious installations. It is a passive subwoofer, so it requires an external compatible amplifier and enclosure.

This Reference Series model is intended for listeners who want to add low-frequency output without using a conventional full-depth subwoofer. It handles 400 watts RMS and 1,200 watts peak, with a specified frequency response of 30Hz to 500Hz. The aluminum driver and high-roll rubber surround are designed to support controlled cone movement during bass reproduction.

Infinity SSI™ Selectable Smart Impedance gives the installer a choice of 2-ohm or 4-ohm nominal impedance using a switch on the subwoofer. This lets the driver be matched to an amplifier and system layout without using conventional series or parallel voice-coil wiring. The impedance setting should be selected to suit the amplifier's supported load.

A vented basket design promotes airflow around the voice coil to help manage heat at higher output levels. The 2-inch voice coil is paired with a double-stacked magnet structure and a shallow driver profile. Together, these elements support a compact subwoofer design intended for sealed, vented, band-pass, or free-air applications as appropriate for the installation.

Plan for an 11-inch cutout and at least 3-1/4 inches of mounting depth, plus adequate clearance behind the driver. Connect speaker wire from an external amplifier while observing polarity, and select the 2-ohm or 4-ohm SSI setting with the amplifier powered off. For enclosure use, manufacturer documentation supports sealed and vented configurations; free-air use is also listed, with reduced power handling.
