The Hertz MP300D2-3 is a 12-inch Mille Pro Series car audio subwoofer designed for systems that need substantial low-frequency output without requiring an oversized enclosure. Its dual 2-ohm voice-coil configuration gives installers useful wiring flexibility when matching the subwoofer to a compatible amplifier. With 600 watts RMS power handling, it is intended for a properly powered aftermarket bass upgrade.

This model is suited to listeners building a focused subwoofer system for music playback rather than simply adding a small amount of bass. Its 86 dB sensitivity and 23 Hz free-air resonance support deep bass extension when the driver is installed in an appropriate enclosure. The pressed-pulp cone incorporates mineral powders to increase rigidity while keeping the moving assembly suited to controlled bass reproduction. Its V-cone profile is engineered to help the cone retain its shape through longer excursions. A Boundary Free IIR rubber surround expands the effective radiating area while maintaining the nominal 12-inch format.

A 65 mm, four-layer CCAW voice coil is paired with a high-density flux ferrite motor for thermal handling and motor control. Venting behind the voice-coil winding and in the motor structure helps move air around the coil assembly. The driver has a rated linear excursion of ±16 mm and a mechanical excursion rating of ±26 mm.

The MP300D2-3 can be the foundation of a dedicated mono subwoofer channel in a larger aftermarket system. Its two 2-ohm coils can be wired in parallel for a 1-ohm nominal load or in series for a 4-ohm nominal load, subject to amplifier capability. The MP300D2-3 uses a high-density flux ferrite magnet, pressed-pulp mineral-powder cone, and high-purity IIR butyl-rubber surround. Its anti-resonant aluminum-alloy basket uses a six-spoke structure with venting beneath the spider. The spring terminal block accepts up to 8 AWG cable and includes a protective cover intended to reduce the chance of an accidental short circuit.

Use the manufacturer mounting-hole diameter of 287 mm (11.30 inches) when planning the baffle cutout, and allow for the listed 187 mm (7.36 inches) mounting-depth dimension. Hertz specifies a 28 L (0.99 cu. ft.) sealed enclosure design with 19 mm (0.75 inch) material, while its reflex design requires more enclosure volume and port construction. Set the amplifier crossover appropriately; Hertz suggests a 70-80 Hz, 24 dB/octave low-pass setting for its sealed-box design.
