V-MODA FRZ-I-BLACK In-Ear Sport Headphones $23.99
Bundle total: $118.98

The Fender Link I/O is a compact USB-C instrument audio interface designed to connect a guitar or bass and headphones to a phone, tablet, Mac, or PC. It gives players a direct way to record, practice through compatible amp-simulation apps, and monitor playback without building a larger desktop setup. Its pocket-friendly footprint makes it suited to home sessions, travel, rehearsals, and quick idea capture.

This single-input interface is made for electric instruments with either passive or active electronics. Its high-impedance 1/4-inch instrument input is engineered to respond like an amplifier input, helping preserve the natural playing dynamics of a plugged-in guitar or bass. A selectable -9 dB pad helps accommodate higher-output instruments.

Fender specifies 24-bit digital audio with sample-rate support up to 96 kHz. The interface supports 44.1, 48, 88.2, and 96 kHz sample rates for recording and playback workflows. A reactive status LED provides a visible indication of power, signal presence, approaching clipping, and clipping.

For monitoring, the Link I/O combines device playback with the direct instrument signal at its 1/8-inch stereo headphone output. The side-mounted blend thumbwheel lets the user adjust the amount of dry input signal heard alongside playback, while the volume control sets overall headphone level. This direct-monitoring arrangement is useful when recording because it reduces reliance on delayed software monitoring.

The interface is powered from its USB-C host connection, so it does not require a separate power adapter in typical USB-C setups. A weighted body and anti-skid silicone feet help keep it stable on a desk or other flat surface. It includes a USB-C to USB-C cable and can be used with Fender Studio as well as compatible recording applications on supported devices.

Key Features

  • 24-Bit/96 kHz Audio: Supports detailed instrument recording and playback at sample rates up to 96 kHz.
  • High-Impedance Instrument Input: Connects passive or active electric guitar and bass signals through a 1/4-inch mono input.
  • -9 dB Pad Switch: Reduces input level for active pickups and other higher-output instruments.
  • Blend Monitoring Control: Mixes dry instrument sound with device playback at the headphone output.
  • Reactive Status LED: Shows power, signal, near-clipping, and clipping status in real time.
  • USB-C Bus Power: Draws operating power from the connected compatible host device.

Design & Installation

The Fender Link I/O uses a black, weighted enclosure with anti-skid silicone feet for stable placement during desktop or mobile recording. Its controls are arranged for quick access, including the headphone volume control, blend thumbwheel, status LED, and pad switch. The compact chassis measures 3.15 inches high, 1.5 inches wide, and 0.98 inch deep.

Connect a guitar or bass to the 1/4-inch mono instrument input, plug headphones into the 1/8-inch stereo output, and use the included USB-C to USB-C cable to connect the interface to a compatible phone, tablet, or computer. Select the Link I/O as the recording and playback device in the chosen recording app, then adjust the blend and headphone volume for monitoring. For an iOS device with a Lightning port, Fender specifies use of an Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter.
