The Arturia MICROFREAK MICROPHONE is a dedicated gooseneck electret microphone accessory for using the vocoder functions of an Arturia MicroFreak synthesizer. It provides a direct, tidy way to add voice as a modulation source without placing a separate microphone stand in front of the instrument. The flexible 12-inch neck lets performers position the capsule close to their mouth while playing.

This accessory is intended for MicroFreak owners who want hands-free vocal processing for performance, sound design, and recording. It connects directly to the MicroFreak headphone/microphone port through its integrated 3.5 mm TRRS plug. The microphone is designed for use with MicroFreak firmware that includes Vocoder mode.

In Vocoder mode, the MicroFreak uses the incoming voice signal to shape the synthesizer's sound, creating speech-like, rhythmic, and electronically processed vocal textures. The MicroFreak vocoder uses a 16-band filterbank, while the keyboard determines the resulting musical pitch. This makes the microphone a focused accessory for vocal-led patches rather than a general-purpose standalone recording mic.

The microphone base incorporates a secondary headphone output, so monitoring remains available after the MicroFreak's combined headphone and mic connection is occupied. This integrated pass-through design helps keep a compact setup organized. Headphones are recommended when using the vocoder to help avoid acoustic feedback from speakers reaching the microphone.

Its gooseneck format fits naturally into a desktop synthesizer setup and holds its position after adjustment. The adapter base is shaped to align with the MicroFreak chassis for a secure fit. Design & Installation

The MICROFREAK MICROPHONE combines an electret capsule, flexible gooseneck, and black adapter/splitter base in one compact assembly. Its adjustable neck is made for close positioning and remains in the selected orientation during use. The base aligns with the edges of the MicroFreak case when installed.

Insert the microphone's 3.5 mm TRRS connector fully into the MicroFreak headphone input, then connect headphones to the output on the microphone base if monitoring is needed. Select a Vocoder preset or Vocoder mode and adjust microphone settings within the MicroFreak as needed. Pull the microphone straight out when removing it, and remove it before transporting or storing the synthesizer.
