Zoom EXH-6e Dual XLR/TRS Input Capsule

The Zoom EXH-6e is an external input capsule that expands compatible Zoom recorders with additional microphone and line-level connections. It adds two locking XLR/TRS combo inputs along with a 3.5 mm stereo mic/line input. This makes it useful when a recording setup needs more sources than the recorder’s installed inputs can accommodate.

Designed for use with the Zoom H6essential, H5studio, and H6studio, the EXH-6e provides a practical way to connect microphones, mixers, keyboards, and other line-level equipment. The XLR/TRS combo jacks accept mic or line signals without requiring input-gain adjustment on the capsule. Individual INPUT A and INPUT B buttons activate the two combo inputs.

For condenser microphones, the EXH-6e supports +48 V phantom power on its XLR inputs. Phantom power requires an external supply connected to the capsule’s USB-C port, such as a USB battery or compatible AC adapter. A phantom-power indicator shows when the capsule is connected to power and able to supply phantom power.

The built-in 3.5 mm stereo MIC/LINE input adds another connection option for stereo feeds, lavalier microphones, and other compatible devices. Its plug-in-power switch supports microphones that require plug-in power through the stereo mini jack. This separate input broadens the capsule’s usefulness for portable interviews, location work, music capture, and content production.

Zoom Capsule System 3.0 provides the connection between the EXH-6e and compatible recorders. The capsule supports 32-bit float recording when used with a compatible recorder, helping it fit into current Zoom Essential and Studio recording workflows. It is a focused expansion accessory for users who need extra physical inputs while retaining a compact recorder-based setup.

The EXH-6e is a compact external input capsule with two locking XLR/TRS combo connectors, dedicated input buttons and status indicators, a phantom-power indicator, a USB-C power port, and a 3.5 mm stereo MIC/LINE jack. Its connector layout separates the two combo inputs from the mini-jack input, helping users organize multiple source types on a portable recording setup. The capsule measures 78.1 mm wide, 56.7 mm deep, and 43.9 mm high, and weighs 96 g.

Install the EXH-6e in the capsule connection on a compatible Zoom H6essential, H5studio, or H6studio recorder. Connect microphones through XLR, line-level equipment through TRS, or a compatible stereo source or lavalier through the 3.5 mm MIC/LINE input. When using condenser microphones on INPUT A or B, connect a USB battery or compatible AC adapter to the capsule’s USB-C port before enabling phantom power.
