Viper 5908V 2-Way LCD Remote Start & Security System

The Viper 5908V is a vehicle security and remote-start system designed to add two-way control, remote engine starting, and alarm protection to a professionally installed vehicle electronics system. Its color LCD transmitter provides command confirmation and system-status feedback, helping the driver know whether a command was received. A companion one-way five-button remote is also included for straightforward everyday operation.

This system is suited to drivers who want remote access to locking, unlocking, arming, disarming, panic, and remote-start functions from a longer distance. The primary two-way remote supports up to a claimed one-mile operating range under favorable conditions. Its screen can show confirmations, alerts, vehicle status, remote battery information, and event history.

For vehicle protection, the 5908V combines an impact sensor, starter interrupt capability, point-of-entry trigger support, flashing parking-light output, and a six-tone siren. The shock sensor differentiates between minor and major impacts, allowing Warn Away and full-trigger responses when properly installed. The two-way remote can receive alerts for supported security events.

The system is built around Viper's integrated Control Center, which combines the in-vehicle antenna, status LED, and Valet control button. The rechargeable LCD remote uses a USB-C charging connection and offers configurable display, theme, language, alert, brightness, and screen-timeout settings. Its internal antenna supports two-way communication between the vehicle and the primary transmitter.

As part of an upgrade path, the 5908V supports remote keyless entry, ignition-controlled door locks, and two auxiliary outputs when these functions are connected and configured during installation. It is also compatible with the Viper SmartStart Pro system when the separately sold SmartStart Pro module is added. Because vehicle integration, remote-start safety circuits, and optional features vary by application, professional installation by an authorized dealer is required.

Design & Installation

The 5908V package centers on a color LCD two-way transmitter, a compact one-way companion transmitter, and an in-vehicle Control Center with integrated antenna, status LED, and Valet switch. The LCD remote uses an internal antenna and rechargeable battery with USB-C charging. Its configurable interface includes multiple display themes, feedback colors, screen-brightness settings, and selectable alert behavior.

This system must be installed by an authorized professional because connection requirements and available functions depend on the vehicle. Remote keyless entry, door-lock control, auxiliary functions, defroster control, and SmartStart Pro capability require correct vehicle-specific wiring, configuration, and in some cases additional parts or labor.
