The Viper 5308V is a vehicle security and remote start system built for drivers who want everyday convenience alongside monitored alarm protection. Its included 2-way LCD transmitter sends commands and receives confirmation or alarm-status pages, while a separate 1-way transmitter provides straightforward four-button control. The system can remotely start a compatible vehicle from up to 1/4 mile away when professionally installed.

This system is suited to owners who want to warm or cool a parked vehicle before getting in while adding remote locking, unlocking, and alarm functions. The LCD remote displays system status information, including remote-start, alarm, sensor, door, hood or trunk, and battery-status indicators. Audible and vibration notification settings can be adjusted on the 2-way transmitter.

Security coverage includes the supplied impact sensor, which provides a Warn Away response to lighter impacts and a full alarm response to heavier impacts. The system also supports door, ignition, trunk or hood trigger monitoring when those vehicle connections are installed. A six-tone siren, flashing parking-light output, panic mode, and optional starter interrupt support a more complete vehicle-security setup.

The 5308V uses command-confirming two-way communication so the LCD transmitter can page back after receiving a command or when an alarm event occurs. Its remote-start operation supports gasoline and diesel starting sequences, with programmable runtime options of 12, 24, or 60 minutes. Timer mode can be configured to start at three-hour intervals, and temperature mode can check for a 0°F threshold every three hours.

For expanded control, the 5308V is compatible with the Viper SmartStart Pro platform when the separate compatible module is added. It also provides auxiliary outputs for installer-configured convenience functions such as trunk release or other supported accessories. Professional installation by an authorized dealer is required because compatibility and available functions depend on the vehicle and its wiring interfaces.

Design & Installation

The 5308V combines an in-vehicle control system with a windshield-mounted Control Center, a 2-way LCD remote, and a 1-way transmitter. The Control Center incorporates the system antenna, a status LED, and a Control/Valet button. The LCD transmitter uses an internal antenna, display, programming button, command buttons, and a replaceable CR2450 battery.

Installation should be completed by an authorized dealer because remote-start and security integration require vehicle-specific wiring and programming. Confirm vehicle compatibility before purchase, especially for factory immobilizer, door-lock, trunk, hood, diesel, and climate-control interfaces. Set the parking brake, leave the vehicle in Park or Neutral, and never use remote start in an enclosed or poorly ventilated space.
